Every time you buy a weapon you need to have a background check and they must see ID. We had a gun store loose his licensee when a undercover ATF agent looked at two guns, decided on one, payed for it, left the store, came back in a few minutes latter told the owner he changed his mind and wanted the second gun too. The guy sold it to him but did not look at his licensee the second time so they yanked his FFL.

I you lived in Alabama you would have to get a background check every time but there would be no waiting.
I just bought a pistol pac from my guy at the guns shop. His brother owned the PP, but I bought it in the gun shop. I figured if shop owner didn't own the gun then I wouldn't have to go thru the background check. Not so! Owner told me that anything that went out his door had to have the background check first. And he has to log every firearm that goes out his door, even the consignment firearms. The guy goes right by the book and takes no chances. It's his bread and butter.
When I buy a gun off the internet my FFL man can put two guns on the same transfer papers but only check background once. $15 for the first gun and $5 for the second one.

In CT it is extremely difficult (like virtually impossible) to purchase a handgun unless you have a Carry Permit. If you do have one, it takes a few minutes for the dealer to check in with the State Firearms Licensing Unit for a NICS check (as long as the SFLU is open) and you're out the door. On a face-to-face the seller calls in to the SFLU for an authorization, a little longer wait time, but not much longer. The Carry Permit, which takes a few weeks to a few months to get is the background check, with just a quick NICS check required for each purchase. The state does record the transaction by serial number linked to your Permit number
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

In Alabama there is never a mention of a gun permit while purchasing a firearm. The only record of a purchase is kept in the gun shop files. Feds can come and look thru shop files at any time. If you want a CCW all you need is $20 and a clean record and you are good to go. County sends you an annual renewal notice in the mail. Send then $20 and it arrives in your mail box in a few days.

Im in Florida, I would be buying online and delivered to the same store I got my .357 from. I wonder if they still have all my information on record if there would be a waiting period. Maybe Ill call them and find out. Will post the reply.

Really? I've never heard of such a thing.
Have you purchased a gun in SC before? With or without a CWP? I have. Once the form is filled out and they have looked at your CWP, some shops do not call it in. Maybe they check later, I don't know. I do know that I do not have to stand around waiting on them to call it in.
