Hi!
I recently obtained a pistol from an estate that I have been commissioned to sell. I have scoured the web but have not been able to find out any type of value on it.
It is a .22 Caliber Dan Wesson by Elgin Gates pistol. From what I'm told it was a very special gun but not being able to find out a lot of information, I'm a little in the dark. I am uploading the photos for you but if you need any other information please let me know.
If anyone can be of help, I would greatly appreciate it.

That poor thing needs a good scrubbing!
This gun was made primarily with IHMSA shooters in mind, hence the 10" barrel & single action. The Ram engraved on the end is a IHMSA logo. The "ETG" in the serial number refers to Elgin T. Gates, who was the founder of IHMSA.
Unfortunately, it's hard to determine how many of this gun model were made (there were also blued versions). They do pop up for sale from time to time, and I believe Shoot's $400 starting price is accurate considering it's current condition.

Agree with the previous posts and just want to add- the ETG Serial Number may drive the price higher than you expect. If you clean it well and buff it with a 3M scotch pad to restore the shine/ remove the scratches and take great photos against a red background, you'll probably do very well.

Ron

Sorry I didn't come back sooner I was really busy at an Estate Sale.
When we take the guns in for auction we do not attempt to clean or fix any of them. They are always sold as-is. This is for liability reasons. Even though we are FFL Dealers, we do not have enough experience or time to do much to them.
Blacktop...the gun will be sold in my auction this weekend. Saturday, the 15th. The auctions starts at 5:08 PM and the firearms are usually finished in the first couple of hours. We do have online bidding and I will post the link for you below.
Here is the link for the auction: http://www.proxibid.com/auctionsunlimited

I've had this on the watch list for a few days now. Not bidding though: ETG 22
Proxibid was a great place a few years ago but now... by the time you add the (rising) internet premium, shipping, and credit card fee- most of the time it isn't worth the final price. It is a great way to find some local auctions though and visit yourself.

I agree with you on Proxibid. We however do not charge anything extra on shipping and we do not charge for credit cards either. But Proxibid went up tremendously on their pricing to us as sellers and though we didn't change our structure many others did. 5 or 6 years ago it quadrupled our business and it remained steady until last year and last year was almost exactly 50% of the previous year. We are locked in on our contract with them at the moment or we would move over to iCollector. It seems to be heading into so much the same thing that happened to eBay which is something we no longer participate in selling on either. They raised their fees so high it just doesn't pay to sell on there, they implemented ridiculous feedback structures and the CEO of Proxibid that was hired a few years ago came from eBay...go figure.
