Some of our Members have many (Ron has a great picture  with his .445 on a backdrop of challenge Coins), I have a very few, with one new addition:

Very poor cellphone picture of my new COTEP Challenge Coin.

I will be getting my Screen Name and Membership # engraved in the space below the flag.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yep, I've collected a few in the past 28+ years…  Jaggman- over 25 years ago, when I received my first one- I was told that I must always carry it.  When at an NCO call, if the giver challenged me to show it; I was obligated to do it.  If I was without- I bought the beer.  If he lost the challenge, then he'd buy the beer.

Noadays, they're normally given for "excellence".  Kind of an on-the-spot award.  I believe Soldiers appreciate them even more than awards (some times).

Steve- that one's neat- what's the story?

The pile below is about 6"x13" and 2.5" deep.  I don't have big enough pockets to carry them to the bar, so I just bring extra $$s to buy the rounds.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I am a Member at COTEP http://www.cotep.org/forum/index.php and recently one of the Members, a retired COL (USA) asked how many people wanted Challenge Coins made. He developed the design and worked pricing with a supplier he has used in the past, and got 100 (I think) made.

Honestly, they are not quite up to the quality of some of Ron's full die struck and enameled coins, but I was pretty surprised at what he got them made for in a pretty limited production run. I had toyed around with something like this for DWF at one time, but kind of got lost in pricing, die set-up costs, minimum quantities, etc.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I wonder how hard it would be for our EWk to setup and cut them?

Great pile of coins Ron and cool new one Steve!

Mike, that is great to hear. When you can share more, that would be great. I know very little about Military life, but I know enough to understand that men like you make things work when they have to work.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.
