In looking over the Dan Wesson's that I now own it seems like I can make some collection goals. This is the aftermath of a bad case of DWAS. Although my Dan's aren't collector grade they will be my collection.
What I have:
(2) Monson 15-2's
(1) Monson 722
(1) Monson 44
(1) Monson 744
(1) Palmer 715 FB
(1) Palmer 7445
Possible collection goals, easiest to more difficult:
1. Find a blue supermag any location. I would then have blue and SS of each frame size.
2. Find a blue Norwich supermag. I would have blue and SS in each frame size and a revolver from each location.
3. Add a blue Palmer revolver + blue and SS Norwich guns. I would have blue and SS in each frame size + blue and SS from each location.
I will stop at 3. That seems impossible/expensive enough.
No offense to the Lil Dan but I currently have no desire for one so I will leave this out of the equation.
So I am wondering what other members collection goals are or have become? Sorry if this has been discussed before.

If money was no object, it would sure be easier to build one's collection, wouldn't it?
I like the idea of having matching SS & blued guns, currently I've only got one pair like that...my 15/715 3" fixed barrels. Wouldn't mind getting matched SM's eventually. I also like your idea of collecting the same gun from each of the three plants.
Initially, I didn't have a plan of attack regarding collecting, I just bought random DW's that came along. After I landed a batch of Porkchops & was able to really study them, I decided to put more focus on collecting. The main focus is on Porkchops for now, until I hopefully end up with an example of each variation. Once that's completed, I'd like to work on 14-2/15-2/715-2 Pistol Pak's. I'd like have a PP example of each shroud variation.
Although, because of that darned I have averted my attention a few times & brought home other DW's that I know I'll want, so I probably can't say I'm completely focused on 'Chops currently. After all, a DW aficionado must have multiple calibers to play with...Porkchops didn't offer much in the way of a caliber range.

This is a great Topic, I have some hopes/plans:
1) A small frame 4" VH collection: I currently have 15-2, 715, 15-2 Nickel, 715 Polished (in process) all in 4" VH. I'd like to add at least one more in the Yukon Coat/AGS matte blackfinish. I want to put Zebra grips and white outline rear sight on all of them. Once I have all five, I want to get a custom SHOOT case made for them.
2) I'd like to find someone willing to swap a 2 1/2" 715 VH shroud for the same in V, I would have everything for a Pack then, except for the case.
3) I'd like to "Pack up" my 15-2 Nickel. I need a 2 1/2" and 8" VH. I have an extra 6" VH now, so I'd just send them out to get plated all at the same time.
4) I have a 722 with 2 1/2 and 4 VH, and I really want a 6 VH, just because I like shooting this in 6" (I use a 715 6 VH shroud with a .22 barrel right now). At that point I may well build a Pack.
5) I have a 14-2 Nickel 4", I wouldn't mind getting a matching 14-2
6) Not a "collection" thing, but I have a PM1-S that is very tight, solid, and accurate. I'd like to have the gunsmith do a little function/reliability tuning on and super tune the trigger.
I had once thought I wanted a SuperMag, but not any more, it's just more gun than I like to shoot. In fact, I have a very nice 744 VH 6 that I really don't like shooting all that much that I've been considering getting rid of. Not too much power on these, just a bigger, heavier gun than I like shooting. One day I'll sell this one to fund some of the other projects.
Obviously, I like the small frame guns better, and I am using them interchangeably in a couple of different collections. I am planning on making all the shroud acquisitions Monson only.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Well, keeping myself within my monetary capabilities, I do have (sort of) some goals for my fledgling Dan collection.
1.) I have a 15-2, and I am working on kind of a 'double pac' of vent and VH barrels, I still need an 8VH, a 2 1/2V and 2 1/2VH to do it. And maybe add another nice 15-2 frame and make 2 pacs.
2.) I have a 715 with 6V and 8V barrels, would like a 4" for it
3.) I have a 14-2 with 2 1/2, 4, and 6" barrels, I now know there are elusive 8" barrels out there so I 'need' one of them too.
4.) I would like a nice porkchop, preferably fixed sight and High Standard would be nice for something a bit different.
5.) A .44 magnum, has to be blue, (I like the deep bluing on DW's), I don't need a pac just maybe a 6 or 8" barrel.
6.) Down the road would like a .357 Supermag, blued, with the slotted barrel, I don't reload so I don't have much use for it, but they are darn tough looking.
7.) I love the pics of the Mitchell Arms Titans, (DWA Midwests I think) if I ever see a Titan it is coming home with me.
8.) Lil Dan, probably the last one I will buy but it would be neat to have all 3 frame sizes.
9.) I have to add one more, my dad owned a W12 that he bought new, and sold sometime maybe about 10 years ago, if I ever run across it I would love to buy it back. I have the 4 digit serial # memorized. He offered it to me before he sold it, but at the time I made the big mistake of letting it go.

There are a lot of ways to go basicly I would like to have all calibers in VH8" blue, it probably wont happen with the .414sm the only ones I'm missing would be 22,22mag,32h &r,32/20,357and the 45lc. I do have the 22 in stainless and a 357 in stainless so for now it is a mixed set up. then I'll have to build a super pack to hold them all. keep the alive

This is a very difficult question! (Steve glad we got you past the self-imposed 10 gun rule!)
When I first started my DW journey I decided I would try to get one of each model which is a little overwhelming when you think about it. I am getting close to having one of each caliber. Here are the one's I still need:
1) 32-20
2) 22 Mag
3) 460 Rowland
4) 460 SuperMag (Only one of these known and I don't think I'll be getting that one!)
I could have had a 32-20 recently but went for the Model 40 pac instead. I have found that I have more of a fondness for the large / SuperMags over the small frames.
So at this point I'm probably going to start focusing more on barrel assemblies for the ones I have...

Once I decided to set collecting goals I have managed to meet two of them. The next goal will be much tougher if not unattainable.
- A DW from all three plants. Done
- A DW of all frame sizes. ( Lil-Dan, Small, Large,Super-Mag) Done
- A DW of all calibers. This will be tough, I won't count the one of a kind stuff.
- A DW of all models. This won't happen unless I hit the Lottery.

At least I have been trying to streamline my collection over the last year... I went from being a 20 year accumulator to more of a collector (the 15-2's are still in accumulation status )....
I've been thining down the collection to one of every model with a few exceptions--
--I have (3)15-2 PP and (3) 715 PP for me and each of the boys. As well as the (3) matching single 715's
--I love my 22's, but realistically how many do I need--they can fund other DW's...the original dw22 PP will stay as well as a single 22 and a 722.
--Chops...I LOVE my W-12's; they get shot more than any other DW I own. I'm keeping them for now--may parkerize one some day; after all, they are my trail guns

Goals? Well the first goal when I started was simply to own a 7445 SM, took years to accomplish. Shot it quite a bit and have enjoyed it immensely. After acquiring it only then did I really start researching the company, the history, the guns and the calibers.. Many years later, now the goal has become a gun in each caliber and finish, even the most obscure. I believe I am missing one right now to round out the calibers that I know exist. I like the shroud variations and have several different ones in some of the calibers. To say that has a hold on me is an understatement . I have very few original PP's as they are hard to come by, most are put together. On occasion I upgrade the collection and as opportunities arise I will add to it. Most of all, the enjoyment has become the friends I have collected along the way, both here on the and outside this arena. The friends have made it all worthwhile.
Thank to you all!

My biggest goal right now is to run into some .360 DW brass, so I don't have to cut down and ream out 357 Max brass.
let's see what I have:
Monson 40V8S, Monson 722-SA VH10, Palmer 722 VH4 & VH8, Monson 715 VH8 & VH6, Norwich 741 VH8, Monson 744 VH8 (officially changed to .360 DW-it's VH8S now!), Norwich 740 Compensated PP
At this point I am very happy with my collection, I've bought and sold too many due to wanting the next one and not having the money to buy it so something had to move. I guess getting a couple BA for the 740 that aren't compensated would be cool, a VH8, V8S, V10S is what I'd like but will have to do it one at a time at current Norwich prices. A VH6 722 barrel assembly would be cool.
my goals:
A factory 360 DW (SS preferrably)
any SRS-1 (360 or 357 Max preferred) I really want SMF's

The number one goal is to finish the Large Frame Monson collection. I need the 745 to do that. I have two 41s, 741, 44, 744, and 45.
Next is the Monson SM frames. I have a 7445, 40, and 375. I think a 740 will be next.
Lastly is the seemingly impossible Monson small frames. I have a 15, 715, and 722. Looking for 32s and 38s, primarily.
I strayed with the Norwich 7445 AGS, but I HAD to have it...
So, I'm at 13 currently....all Monson, save one.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Always good to set goals...something to shoot for. But then, when you accomplish your goal, you feel kind of a letdown. Like, OK, now what do I do? You could set new goals then and start over. I like to keep a general goal, something that is modified from time to time, depending on my feelings.
Right now, I know what I still want, and in no particular order:
745...10" VH would be really nice, but I could use a VH6 also
40-V8S, an original silhouette large-frame
Pistol Pac...shoulda bought one years ago, just never got around to it
DW semi-auto...same as above, now the prices are sky-high.
8" .22LR...have the 722-VH10 already, but always wanted the "shorter on"
IHMSA Field Pistol Pac...in .357 Magnum
IHMSA 15-2 VH10 Limited Edition
AGS...when they first came out, I thought it was a stupid idea...now I really need one.
732-VH10
7320-VH10
7360-VH10...I know where that one is, just a matter of convincing the owner to sell it to me reasonably.
