Long time reader, first time poster….
So Ive absolutely fallen in love with the Dan Wesson PPC Action Cup like most of you guys (in spite of some of my friends calling it an ugly piece of metal….blasphemy!!!).
This is the pic of the weapon, so you can drool with me.
The problem, as most of us know is that its impossible (or just really improbable) to find this weapon.
My last resort is to buy a regular revolver and take it to a gunsmith to fashion the wide, square barrel and attach to the revolver.
So my question is this, which revolver would be the easiest to convert to the wide, square barrel, and are there any way I can buy the barrel and switch it myself?
Thanks for the help guys.

to the , Rod.
First you might consider that the Action Cup was technically built on a model 714 frame. It was also .38 special only IIRC. So you might want to begin with a 715 which is much more available and will shoot .357 as well.
Now as for the shroud for the barrel, you might want to consider contacting Eric who advertises his custom barrel wrenches here (see right-hand column). He is also setting up to produce barrels and shrouds for Dan Wessons. Though he has test items, actual production is a few months away.
Patience.

Hey Mike thanks for the advice on my current dilemma. I dont think I will be adding a scope (like the image I posted) or a laser sight/flashlight to the barrel, as Im attracted to the clean look of the gun and barrel.
Ive found Clark Customs http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/revptbu.html but dont know much about this company to be ready to do business with them. The revolver I am looking for is going to be an all around revolver, used for home defense primarily but also used as a concealed weapon (size allowing), I also want to be able to put a couple of rounds on a target at my local range from time to time so I need this to be done right.
Ill be checking this post regularly for any ideas/suggestions on how to go about this.
Thanks everyone.

Yes, Welcome Rod!
I'm the guy Mike mentioned. Yes, I am working on the action cup/PPC shrouds. The design I am working on is that you can get a regular 'ol model 15, take the shroud off, and put the PPC/Action cup on and you'll be ready to roll, so you can go from a normal Dan to a PPC in a couple minutes! (For the PPC, rear sight will have to be removed to clear the Aristocrat sight)
Curious Rod, it seems you like the "slab side" style of the PPC but you didn't really mention what you had in mind for sights?
I'm working on getting them done as soon as possible, but there is alot going on, and issues I need to get taken care of on the manufacturing setup. As Mike mentioned, patience is a good thing, I already have one guy going nuts for one! (You know who you are )

Rod-Everyone here loves the look of the Action Cup, but for your stated purposes, you might be better off with a 715. The AC would be a very heavy carry weapon, and .38 Spl is a much less capable caliber for any defensive purpose. On the other hand, a 715 with 4" barrel and good hollowpoint ammo would be a great nightstand gun. Put on the 2-1/2" barrel and a slim grip for carry and you're good to go.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Loll, I forgot to put a couple zero's behind that 1 guy.
Rod, Feel free to message away! That shouldn't be a problem at all if you just want to mount that scope on there. I'm actually about ready on the PPC/Action Cups aside from having barrels which is the main hold up...gotta get that squared away so we can try to calm down everyone!
