Dan Wesson revolvers were an option for some police departments, most notably the New York Police Department. NYPD required .38 Spl and non interchangeable barrel for their guns.
HERE is a link to a very informative post by our member David Abney. He has provided much info on the police heritage of Dan Wesson revolvers. I suggest you "Member Search" him and look at the posts he has put up on DWF.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for the info Steve most helpful.
I served as a part-time ( full commissioned ) TCLEOSE peace officer in Texas. Although the DW was not an issue weapon, I chose it due to comments made by retired Texas state troopers, the veracity of which were backed up by the use of the weapon on duty, durability, safety, lack of ND, etc. I witnessed Glock, .45 and 9mm jams on the range ( and various jams, NDs on duty ) which led me to choose the Dan Wesson for duty.
Cheers,
Mick
