Just a heads up for anyone interested in buying new barrel assemblies from Dan Wesson. Apparently they now offer the partial underlug (V standard shroud) as an option instead of the full underlug (VH shroud). Costs an extra $50.
I prefer the VH shrouds myself but I'm sure there are others that prefer the lighter V style shrouds. Good to have options!

The 'V' designation represents 'Vented Rib' and has nothing to do with the underlug. The 'H' is for 'Heavy' and is for the full-length underlug option.

Correct. I tried to specify that when I put 'V' and 'VH' in parentheses in the OP.

Just trying to help with nomenclature and terminology. You referred to the "V standard shroud" as a "partial underlug". All I did was clarify that the 'V' designation represented "Vented Rib" and has nothing to do with the underlug. Also, a "Standard" shroud has a solid rib, so calling a 'Vented Rib' shroud, a 'Standard', just confuses.

I do as well. I also think the model 15-2 balances better with a 6" barrel with a half-lug than it does with the full lug shroud.

Me too.
Hopefully I can now locate a 4" V shroud. I don't know why, but that sucker seems to be elusive; been trying to track one down for a couple of months.
