I cant shoot my DWs!
I had shoulder surgery on the 18th of May, and my arm in a sling for 5(?) more days. At least a week before any road trip driving.
But, what's worse is that two Dans are away from home and that's causing the anxiety. One is at a new gunsmith in town for a Spring Kit Installation. Old Gunsmith I was using got the modification or repair right only 50% of first visits. New Smith has been around a little while, so I thought I would give him a try. He says he has done lots of Dan Wessons, but vague on models has has worked on. And, another one is at 3-D Printers as a test subject for printing grips. They've only been gone 10 days, but separation anxiety kicks in whenever I see the empty spaces in the safe.
I sent some medallions to Hogue a two weeks ago for installation order, and yet to hear from them.
I have been using my down time somewhat productively. I have been trolling sites looking for more Dan Wessons! I have a significant number of bids out there, including one that has me a bit nervous, but is is a "bucket list" Dan.
I may have go do some one-handed shooting of the 22VH10s and the 738 this week to calm myself?

I have never attempted taking a Dan apart yet. One of these days I’ll have to give it a try.
Kurt,
We need a Dan Wesson Firearms Reunion! Kinda like the Saturn Automobile Reunions. Get some instructors. Be at or near a Range, Steakhouse, Distillery, Brewery..........

I had shoulder surgery on my right shoulder, so when I went to the range, I shot my 44 mag with my left hand.
BUT it was a couple of months after the surgery.
Almost a month post-op. I went to the range yesterday with my Pointman.
Two things I could not do: Hang the target. And rack the slide the first time.
I wasn't proud. I asked for help. Best Day this month!

This is why I have anxiety and need to learn my own repairs. This latest experienced Gunsmith have been working on my first 445....the shooter.
I called for status. They can't get the firing pin out!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder surgery and the temporary hiatus from shooting your Dan Wessons. It must be tough to see those empty spaces in the safe while they're away for modifications and testing.
It's great that you've been keeping yourself busy and productive during your downtime by looking for more Dan Wessons. Exploring new additions to your collection can be exciting!
If you're ever looking for alternative ways to manage any discomfort or anxiety during your recovery, you might consider exploring options like medical cannabis under proper guidance and within legal frameworks.

I hate to be "That Guy", but there is no way to use cannabis and buy or possess guns "within legal frameworks."
No matter what any State law may say, Cannabis is illegal under Federal law, and those who use it are "unlawful users or addicts of controlled substances". They cannot "...ship, transport, possess or receive any firearm or ammunition", legally.
I've got a couple of medical conditions for which I really wish I could try it, but I'm not willing to put my gun ownership at risk to do so.
Please don't shoot the messenger.

Jim

It says are you an unlawful user or addicted to it. Most users are not addicted to it and are buying it legally (yes I know it's still illegal federal) but I would not worry about it they do not waste their time charging someone unless your last name is Biden! LOL they will use it if they're trying to get info out of you but other than that they do not waste their time. Also there are already 2 cases that are going to the Supreme Court right now about this.
What about buying a gun and then a year later you decide it's not what you wanted and sell it? The way the new form reads that is getting dicey. I have read several articles on this and they do not go out looking for this to charge people with it's used very little and mostly if they are trying to get info out of you or if you have more charges. They seem to be more concerned now about private gun sales. My friend is a FFL and he says gun shows (in Arizona where no background form is required are packed with private sellers flipping guns) You don't see the FBI showing up there and trying to charge these flippers (I'm talking about guys moving 100's of guns not collectors that sell a few of their inventory) The real FFL dealers hate these people because they is no tax collected between private sellers. A dealer even at a gun show has to charge tax if you are buying in the state. He also says the biggest seller is a Barrett 50 cal sniper rifle. US citizens can buy a Barrett for 6k, then sell it to a coyote for double. Since you don't have to do a background check in Arizona for a personal sale between two private owners it's a huge amount of guns going over the border. I do not get buzzed anymore but I guess the first 30 years of my life I was breaking the law!

The government will, or will not, charge you as they see fit. "I probably won't get caught" or, "They probably won't charge me", don't change the fact that you're committing a crime, and they can get you for it. The discussion of questionable sales at gun shows has nothing to do with the topic.
I personally know of a situation where a guy (non-user) was visiting Colorado, and went into a dispensary with a friend. Apparently, you have to show an ID to get in, and have it scanned. A while later, the guy went to buy a gun and was refused, due to being a "known user of illegal drugs".
I'm not putting my gun rights at risk for a painkiller, even if it's a good one.
