I hate to say this but it appears that Dan Wesson is being handled like the black sheep in the CZ family. I called last week to buy a 4 inch stainless barrel extension assembly from them and that's where the problems started. For starters the employees are only sporadically there. If you have a gun related question you can't just speak to someone because the guys in the back have the ability to leave the building and make their own schedule. Neither the receptionist or the parts guy have enough basic knowledge about their products to answer even the simplest questions. The parts guy cannot even tell you if they have parts in stock because he has to check with the guys in the back in order to physically check inventory because they don't keep track of it. On the day that I ordered the barrel assembly the parts guy went home early and the receptionist had to take my order. She did her best without knowing anything about the products. On that particular day the "guys in the back" decided to show up for work and actually stick around so she could ask them if they had the parts that I needed. My order was placed but I never got a tracking number as promised so I nearly missed the package which needed a signature in order to be released. But no worries, I still got my package. But when I opened it up I realized that while I ordered a full barrel/shroud assembly I only had the front sight blade and the shroud, no barrel. Then I realized that my shroud was just an unfinished blank. No company logo and no cartridge designation. I called Dan Wesson to report the problem. The parts guy couldn't answer any of my basic questions which are as follows.
1. Isn't the shroud supposed to be engraved? Parts guy, "I don't know".
2. The muzzle portion appears to be unfinished, is this the way that they come? Parts guy, "I don't know".
3. Can you give me a price and tell me if you have a 357 4 inch barrel assembly in stock in blue? Parts guy, "I don't know".
4. When will you know about the barrel assembly? Parts guy, "The guys in the back are not here, call back next week".
5 Ok, well how much is the barrel assembly? Parts guy, "I don't know".
6 Can you check? Parts guy, "let's just wait until I get your return, I should know by then".
Then he told me that he had emailed me a call tag so I could print the label and ship it back. But sadly he wasn't sure about anything that he did which required me to go the fedex website to get information for him. And the reason for that was because he apparently had problems sending the email. It took 3 hours to get that problem solved and several call backs. And just before he got the email problem straightened out I recommended having fedex drop by and give me a label and pick up the package for an additional $8 charge. That required getting his supervisor's permission but luckily he got the email problem solved because the supervisor wasn't readily available to clear the matter up. I guess he was hanging out with "the guys in the back".
So now I have to wait another 2 weeks. One week to return the item, and one week to get another. And that's if they have it in stock in the first place since they "the guys in the back", keep taking off in the middle of their shift. I still don't know about the 357 mag barrel assembly. I'll have to wait another week until my shroud arrives at Dan Wesson and hopefully by then "the guys in the back" will show up for work so the parts guy can ask them if they have the parts in stock and what the price is.
After 6 plus phone calls and 3 plus hours of hassles, I hung up the phone and said out loud, "why am I constantly surrounded my stupid people"?
It's a real shame that Dan Wesson revolvers are no longer in production and that a foreign owned parent company has bought them out and is running them into the ground with little or no oversight. Dan Wesson used to be an innovator and a great company. Now it's little more than a trademark to put on air soft guns, and a line of CZ built model 1911's. No more supermags, no more 357 mag revolvers, no more nothing. It's really not Dan Wesson anymore folks.
The good ole' days were nothing to brag about but at least back then you had a better chance at making it. And back then good American workers took pride in their creations and most people had some optimism. Now we live in a wasteland where nothing is made here and celebrity worship has replaced the will to live and to prosper.
The future is getting darker by the day.

WOW!!!!!
I have never had a parts or service issue with DW.
Did you contact them through CZ? If so, that's probably where the problem is.
Always contact DW directly in Norwich. Sometimes you have to leave a message and wait for a callback, but they know what they're doing. The CZ guys don't even know how to spell Dan Wesson, let alone knowing what DW's are.
Good luck in solving your problem.

This is who you should try to make a contact with nathan475. I think most here at the DWF would agree this is the gentleman to talk with concerning Dan Wessons, at least he or whom ever he connects you to.

+1 on advice above. I called Dan Wesson a few weeks ago and ordered a 10" 41Mag tube. Sean, I think, helped me out. Even had me to hold while he physically checked the remaining stock. No issues- quick, polite service.
Forget CZ; Call Dan Wesson 607.336.1174 ext 21

Nathan,
The last few times I needed parts I spoke to Shawn at Dan Wesson phone number. While relatively new, maybe less than a year, he has been very helpful and I received my two SS barrel tubes in three days. A 2.5 and an 8"
Bob is the DW gunsmith and as we know Keith is big dawg.

Update
My new barrel assembly arrived today 2 days after it arrived at back at CZ. So the turn around has been quick. The parts are shipped from CZ rather than from Dan Wesson in NY. They laser engraved the barrel shroud and included the 4 inch 445 barrel tube that they left out. All looked ok until I screwed the barrel tube into the frame. I couldn't get the gap set to .006 and upon inspection I noticed that the barrel threads were cut about .1" too short. The tightest barrel gap setting that I could manage was .009". So I called Shawn at Dan Wesson and he emailed me a call tag, well not really. He must of forgot because it didn't arrive. So I'll be calling him back in the morning until I get one so I can send it back again.
I have a couple more of these barrel assemblies to buy so I sincerely hope that my next order will go smoother.
The problems going on here are obvious. I just want to get this wrapped up so I can test the new barrel out at the range. Hopefully they go through their inventory and pick out the bad parts as well as get their employees better prepared so the process of ordering parts becomes easier.

Nathan, it would be helpful to know if your contact was through CZ, or was it direct to DW in Norwich, NY.It was through Dan Wesson in Norwich NY.
I strongly urge you to contact Keith Lawton
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Agreed on calling DW directly. I few weeks back I sent my 44 mag in for trigger work and to have an unfluted cylinder fit and expected to be dealing with an afterthought of a department but my experience was first rate. Bob did the work on my gun and kept me informed of what was being done and what it would cost as well as when I could expect my gun back. I was pleasantly surprised.

I've owned CZs for years and just got a DW 15-2. My limited experiences with CZ-USA have been really good up to now.
I ordered a new shroud and barrel back on March 25, no updates since then. Tried calling CZ-USA, no response. Sean at DW called me back in <30 min with an update. The "in-stock" shrouds on the website are manufactured on order so the lead time is 4-5 weeks.

The message here is ALWAYS call Dan Wesson in Norwich.
I follow 1911 Forum/ Dan Wesson pretty consistently
Keith Lawton is active there, and every issue gets resolved.
Attempting to work through ANYTHING regarding Dan Wesson revolvers (parts, service, ...) with CZ is pointless, there is WAY too much BIG CZ to be worried about the DW revolver business
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Can you tell me what website you are using to see shrouds, etc for revolvers? I cannot find anything like they used to have on the web - just hats, etc. I must be doing something wrong.
Thanks.

A new update to my attempt to order a shroud, condensed version
March 25: Ordered in-stock 2.5" barrel/shroud online
Mid April: Called Dan Wesson, was told they are making the part, but they have to ship through CZ-USA. This was the only person that seemed to have any customer service skill and cared that I was waiting.
Late April: CZ-USA leaves a voicemail asking for "more information"
May 4: after calling 4 times, leaving 2 messages which were not returned I get a hold of a rep that says my order was cancelled because they could not reach me (they called 1 time). I make a new order for the shroud.
May 9: shroud/barrel arrives
May 18: I find the locating pin is undersized for my 15-2. Called CZ USA, no answer again. Just popped the shroud/barrel in the mail requesting a refund. Hopefully, I'm only out $16 shipping. Everyone I spoke to at CZ-USA sounded annoyed and unapologetic.
That folks is how you lose a customer. It's too bad they aren't letting Dan Wesson run their own business because CZ-USA is not maintaining quality service.
