As I was playing with my Dan's yesterday I discovered something.  I fount the original packaging for my power control barrel for the 744.

I  bought the 744 in 1985.   On 17 July 1986 DWA shipped my PC barrel.  You probably can't read the date on the postage label in this pic.

The anomally is that the paper that the barrel is wrapped in id clearly dated 1979 April.  We have been assuming that the dates on these wrappers are an indication of the date of manufacture. Now, I suppose it's possible that the barrel was made and wrapped in 1979 and stored that way for 7 years, but it seems unlikely to me.  Another quandry.

I don't find it that hard to believe. Here at work, we have parts sometimes sitting on shelves for 10 years before they're ever sold.Surprised Go into any manufacturer (distributor, retailer, etc) that's been in business for a while & I can bet you money that they have NOS (new OLD stock) items on their shelves.

Anyway, that's a cool find.Laugh Thanks for showing it off...and I hope that's not still your current address.lol2

No that's not my current address.  I probably should have wiped it anyway. If I remember correctly, 1979 was the first production year for the 44.  Evidently those papers do their job very well.

Edit:  OK, the image is fixed; address removed.

I agree, the papers do their job well. My M40 had it's spare barrel still rolled up & taped in the wrapper when it came to me...the barrel looks brand new in there.Smile

How'd you do that?

Not being as imaginative as SHOOT, I just used the eraser tool.  I like SHOOT's solution better.

I guess that everyone's more imaginative than I am.
