All;
Need a little help. I have 2, Yes 2 DW 357 PACS that are nickel. I bought them from 2 different sources over the years. My research shows they were made in very limited numbers from 1982-1983. In fact only 3 were made. The PACs I have contain the 8,6,4 inch barrels, VR with the standard tools, patches, paperwork ETC. The case is different. I will post pictures later.
A good friend who has a gun shop here in Jacksonville knew the family rather well and believes they made them as "trial/prototypes" and never made any for the general public. He said they were always experimenting and most likely that was the scenario. He also things they were made for hunters since they were Nickel and later found that SS was cheaper.
Comments welcomed!
Good Morning and welcome to the
You and I exchanged emails earlier this morning and it sounds like you have a very interesting pair of pistol pacs!
As you may already know we have very little information on production numbers and documentation from the various Dan Wesson companies. If you have any documentation that came with you pacs we would love to see scan so that we can add it to our archive section here.
And of course we would all love to see pictures!
Again welcome!

Gary, I am interested in this set. The fine scratches/scuffing that appear in pic #2, would you say this looks worse in the pic, than in person?
I'm sending a PM your way.

Thanks... There are some scratches on the Frame that are not depicted, small but still visible. The key is that the 8 inch has been drilled for a scope. I bought it like this...I had a Burris 4x Pistol scope and used the gun for long distance pistol competitions. I fired about 150 rounds and it is dead on at 75 yards with the right load. The other barrels (4,6) are pristine and have almost never been used. I can send you as may pics as you need just let me know.
I have never seen a set for sale in my last 8 years of DW collecting in any shape. I found this one in 2007 on GB and bought it for the asking price. I have 2 sets and want to buy some other DWs to complete my whole set collection.
Hopefully, I will be talking with Mark Waldo tomorrow through a friend. Mark was with DW for a long time and I hope to find the heritage on the Nickel Sets. My own research has shown that they were trial/prototypes and the number of sets is 3, So someone has another set or it has been broken up over the years.
Let me know If you are interested and I will send more pics to you directly. I am g.james@comcast.net

There still exists some activity within the Dan Wesson group on Yahoo. In the pictures section a member called "r_miller300″ posted a picture of a nickle plated pistol pac. IIRC this picture was posted about 2 to 3 years ago.
Here is the picture from Yahoo:
* EDIT * The two nickle plated pork chop shrouds are still listed on Auction Arms.

Looks like a very nice set! It may be the 3rd or the 1st one I bought in early 2007... It looks the same.... Thanks...
