Hi all,
Thought I'd make a quick post to ask some of the revolver experts here how important it would be for me to do a full disassembly to clean my .44 since I was in a full rain downpout while hunting for several days this season. Taking down my 1911 to the last part is no problem for me but I have no experience with full takedown on a revolver. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but need some guidance here. I'd hate to have parts rusting inside my gun and not know about it.
Any suggestions? I plan on calling CZ/DW tomorrow but forums are a bit quicker. 😉
Thanks in advance!

If it didn't actually go underwater, I'd clean it thoroughly, including barrel/shroud off. Take the grip off, and dry the frame in a warm environment with lots of air movement. If you feel the need to tear it down
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The above advice sounds good, however if you decide to fully pull it down, be pre warned installing the trigger mech is a frustrating tricky affair. It is doable but not for the faint of heart or lack of patience. Good luck.

Interesting.... Funny how a hunting revolver is supposedly "simpler" in function than, say, an Auto, but that I can fully take down my 1911 but not my revolver. lol Maybe it's just that I don't have proper instruction on "how" to take this puppy down.
I just left Dan Wesson Service dept a message ... hopefully they don't tell me to "take it to a gunsmith". That would just be the poops.

Just to update.... I got a call back from Keith at DW who basically said that, depending on the level of soaking (lol) I may or may not NEED to take down the whole gun.... but that, if I so desired, he'd walk me through it.
I removed the barrel and shroud and did a thorough cleaning and I might not even attempt the FULL take down but dang it sure would be nice to know how.
Hmmmm
