Dan Wessons have generally been priced pretty low here in CT, unfortunately that seems to be changing. I haven't seen many lately, the 15-2 8 VH I saw today was $499, with a 4 V barrel included. Great condition, except for some definite Barney going on, but prices are going up cry

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That is one of the downfalls of the new 715 coming out...people thinking they have a valid price to base their price on. Sort of, but there is more to it than that. wink

However, I feel what happens in actual auctions as on GB and the like will determine if prices are going up. I haven't been paying real close attention lately (too busy!) but they are going to go one way or the other.

So don't second guess yourself if you're thinking about it and come across a good deal! dwas

Just finding them around here is a treat!  I think someone else must be buying all of them!   Gun Show yesterday not a Dan any where!  Not sure how prices will go, though seems every firearm is going up! Invest now!   Or sell yours to me before they go lower!!!  buy-now if it seems to be deal!

Inflation on DWs is, to some degree, a result of this forum.  It has popularized them and caused the price to go up.  Look how the membership has increased in such a short time.  The DW market supply is fixed, there won't be any more made like the ones we love and cherish.  The demand is increasing every day.  Take me for instance, 3 months ago I had never thought about owning a DW and now I'm hooked.  I've bought 7 in the past 3 months.  I have to pay top market price to get one.  I doubt any member would sell their DW for less than they paid for it and usually would like to get a little more.  Remember the DW belt buckle thread?  How could a belt buckle be "worth" in the range of $60?  Supply and demand!

There have been good deals here when owners sell to members but when put on an auction site you try to get more than you paid.  Am I right?  That's the free enterprise system at work.  Of course there is nothing wrong with this but it does tend to cause prices to go up.  Some of the members have been in the DW business for many years.  You remember when you could get a DW for a lot less than what they go for today.  I can remember getting 2 hamburgers and a coke for 35 cents.  My first home cost me $12,000.  Same place will bring $150,000 in Alabama now.

Bottom line is that inflation is all around us.  The DW market having a fixed supply causes the demand to increase along with prices.

I pay top prices for DWs because I want them.  I'm part of the problem.

Hossman has it exactly correct.

Until 3 years ago, I only owned the 2 Dan's I bought new in the '80's.  Then I started collecting and watching GB and the prices have been steadily rising.  Thank goodness my collection is pretty much complete, maybe actually complete at 14.

Everybody that thinks Zoommb can stop at 14 can send me $1 and I can buy at least 5 more DWs, even at the prices today.  I was happy at one until I joined the forum. dwas

I'm thankful that I was able to get the ones I've got so far, even if many of them weren't at gtdwprices. That's what I get for being impatient, I guess.laugh

From an owner's standpoint, it's nice to see the value on the rise. From a buyer's, it sucks of course.lol2 Oh well, that's the name of the game.

Gents,

I recently purchased my DW 22 at a gun show. The dealer had another DW 15-2 4V in quite rough condition for $350. A local Pawn shop has a 15-2 4V with some cylinder timing issues for $295.

After reading this thread it might appear I need to raid the piggy bank and snag these "investments".

The one gun in rough condition had what looked like a severe "stain" on the barrel shroud. If it needed to be reblued, is it tough to match the frame bluing?

Whats too bad though is if ya want to sell or trade a Dan...it aint worth shit, but if ya lookin to buy...they kinda pricey. Guess its that way with everything though. Theres lots of people for some reason think Dan's are lesser than most other makes. But we know better, my 445 locks up tighter than any Smith or Ruger i ever handled.
