Eric and I have been working on a no-drill option for scoping DW revolvers, that is ready to go into prototype production, and will ultimately be available from EWK Technologies.

This scope mount will clamp on the top strap (directly above the cylinder), and will be topped with a 3 1/2" long Picatinny rail. This configuration will allow the rear sight to remain in place, and will be very simple to install and remove.

The positioning is very rearward on the revolver, rather than shroud mounted, and will probably not be very suitable for high magnification and variable scopes. It will be useful for smaller (2x and 4x) scopes, red dots, and holographic sights. This mount is planned to be available in stainless and blue. Pricing is not definite yet, but Eric's preliminary estimate was really good.

Still a little while to go on this, but scope mounting help is on the way!

ps-have you Model 14 guys seen his new front sight option to allow the use of Model 15 BA's?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Wish you guys would have let me in on the secret... I happen to have a No drill/tap for the DW 357 (Original Aimpoint) that you could have used as a basis.

Let me know and I'll toss it in the mail.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

How about a picture?

ok, first of all...sorry for the crappy pics.  It's late, it's dark, and the mount is black...

Ah, thanks for the aimpoint pics shoot! That is interesting with the clamp that goes on the shroud, the only downside would be having that to take off when changing shrouds...what we were thinking is just to keep the mount on the frame thus allowing seemless changover between shrouds.

Maybe what we could do is for an extra long picatinny rail, offer the shroud clamp on those? That would help support the extra "overhang"

Yep LB, already super busy, was thinking about going out into the world today, but decided to stay and work. Whipping

There is some nice progress on this project, Eric and I are still talking a few things back and forth, but mostly like this:

Image Enlarger

Envision this with a Picatinny or Weaver rail on top, it clamps on from the sides and has some tensioning screws tightened snugly down to the topstrap. I like that it shifts the weight back from the barrel shroud, and closer to the point of balance above the grip. Possibly not a great option for a big scope, but Red Dot/Holographic/2x or 4x scope? Minor dimensional changes may be needed for Large Frame, but the concept remains the same

Still some work to do on dimensions, materials, finish, but it looks like something like this will be very reasonably priced, and easy to install and remove.

Well?

Very nice progress!  Thanks for sharing the pictures!  I know I would like one when they are ready!
