A while back I was fortunate enough to receive a small USPS Priority Mail box from Eric at EWK Arms. Inside was one of his new VH3 barrel assemblies for the 744. If I remember correctly I actually received this on January 30th the day my family was heading to Raleigh, NC to prepare for my sons surgery so after quickly admiring Eric's handy work I had to set it a side and hit the road.
Fast forward 2 months and I was finally able to hit the range (well actually my uncles front yard)! Before leaving I removed the VH4 (my old favorite BA) and installed the new VH3 and the green fiber optic site from Eric. I'm not the best shot by far but it was like I could hit anything. My cousin was shooting his Python and I was out shooting him with 3" less barrel!
We didn't have time to do any serious shooting just plinking around for fun but it was certainly a pleasure to shoot! I know all of us regulars here at the DWF know about Eric's workmanship but wanted to share for any new members considering buying from him. So if he has something in you like in stock don't hesitate to buy it because it wont be there for long!
Thanks again Eric! The VH3 is my new favorite BA for my 744!

I still say that if I could have found a 4" (even better 3") for my 744 6VH, I'd still have it. 6VH was just to heavy and clunky for me.
BUT, I'm the guy who only runs 4V/VH on on half a dozen .357's and .22's, nothing else feels right for me.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Not meaning to hijack, I would like to add my very good impression of the 3" barrel.
I bought mine from the same batch than Jody and had only one chance to shoot it.
First, I like the look and the balance of the gun better than with the 6" it used to be equipped with.
I was curious to shoot it the first time remembering the sensations of the "little canon" in 6".
I had the wooden grip that day and not the Hogue, adding to my anxiety.
I fell in love at first shot if I may say, no atrocious recoil, minimal sight adjustment to be on paper and a lot of pleasure shooting, enjoying the Sound and Fireball!
I think I will keep this gun that I was ready to sell. With this 3", the fun is back.
Thanks a lot Eric. Keep up the really good work.

See? I'm not the only one! Honestly, I would have kept it if I could have gotten a 4", and a 3"?
Oh My!
