I've been looking for a decent price on a 4" barrel for a couple of years and I finally found one at a recent gun show. 4" VH stainless. I think I did OK for $200.00 cash (no tax). It sure looks nice and changes the feel of the gun.
I'm going to be able to switch between a scoped 6" for hunting and an iron-sighted 4" for hunting/carrying.
Now all I have to do is find some grips (I hate these Pachmayr Presentations!) and make/buy a holster.

And you didnt buy the 715 Palmer with the 32mag shroud Monson? man what is up with that!
The Gun show bugboy is talking about had a few Dan's, one fellow whom I will invite to this place had a 744 miss matched Ba's though nice looking (he sold the 4" for 200), also a 8"HV unmilled for sight and screw w/ a scope mount. It was mounted on a 15-2 frame nice looking set up. More Dan's on one table then I had ever seen at a Wichita show.
To bad my ship hadn't come in (yet)!

I didn't notice it and even if I had, I'm not a collector and don't have a desire for a .32mag. Plus I'm just a poor retired E-7 suffering from Obama's economic "plan".
I was excited to get the 4" though. Went out and shot it this afternoon. I like it!
Just to be stupid, I'm going to make a kydex concealed carry holster and carry it some.

Ah it wasn't a 32 mag (a 715 (357mag) with the 32 shroud). had to be the same guy though.
I agree the 4" is hoot to shoot and carrying it, i would hate to be the bad guy that gets in your face! Let me know how the holster works out as I would love to carry a 744 in the winter!
thank you for your service!
