Do you know COTEP?
Congregation Of The Enlightened Pistolero?
A group of DW 1911 shooters, joined in the premise that DW 1911's reflect the very best of production 1911's (sound familiar?). I think this grew out of the 1911forum.com, and I've been a member there for a short while.
I can tell you that it is a Forum remarkably like DWF, very friendly, and kind of "chatty". The central focus is DW 1911's, but there is plenty of room for other brands, other types of firearms, social commentary, and a nice DW Revolver Forum as well.
If you're a DW 1911 guy, it's worth a look:
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

You need a registration passcode to register. I don't have one so I can't register.

Somewhere on the Home Screen it will tell you that the passcode to register is "valor".
I agree that 1911.com is a bigger, much more capable site. I'm finding COTEP to be more like DWF for me, more like a bunch of guys hanging out talking guns, shooting, life, and … A lot like, oh well, DWF! Lots of places to go for technical info, sometimes "you just wanna go where everybody knows your name"

The Dan Wesson group there is friendly, the rest of the forum... eh.
They have several 'post police' that just wait for the opportunity to correct you to their way of thinking. Rather harsh also. I didn't stay long. Just one of a few I tried and left. That was a couple years ago now. Maybe it has changed or mellowed?
I'll stick with this one, defensivecarry.com and a local board here.

I have to agree 100%
I have forgotten most passwords to other gun forums for the
very reason many of them are infected with those who must plant
their bottoms on a mound of ants and seek to discredit and shame people.

Yeah, the 1911forum has a "sub-forum" called the COTEP, you wouldn't want to confuse that with COTEP.org ... just a totally separate entinity (possibly misspelled), dudes.
BTW, looking at the DW revolver pic thread, I may need just end up joining to help lend a hand in that endeavour!

1911forum.com Yep that's the place. I don't go there anymore. Don't need it or the hassle.
