I have been waiting for a form 4 approval now for almost 2 years. I purchased a silencer from dakota silencer back in Feb of 2017. The paperwork was sent off to the BATFE in March of 2017. Every time I call I get the same answer that it is going through a back ground check. Now I have had a CCP for over 5 years and a purchase permit for over 15 years, I have never been denied a firearms sale in my entire life. I just can't understand what is taking so long. They won't give me any substantial information as to the status of my form, just the same ole "it is being processed". Well no duh!.. I'm too the point where I don't even want it anymore. Dakota silencer has been no help at all and if I want a refund they are going to charge me $150.00. Has anyone ever heard of it taking this long before? Can anyone offer me some help on this matter?

I bought a sound suppressor for my M14 in November 2016 and I have not heard anything yet. Inquiries with the manufacturer only results in; "all we can find out, is it is being processed". From what I've heard, they got slammed with applications and this delay in processing seems to be across all regions.

Yes the good old days. Both my Machine Gun transfers took 3 months to the day back in the 90s. I even thought that was too long, Especially the second one that was not long after my first approval. You would think the second one would have been a simple no brainer for these people. But they do not work with Brains at the ATF.
Short of finding someone outside that has some influence. I am afraid you are at their Mercy. I have never even heard of anyone going over a year in recent times though. Something has gone wrong. How high have you tried to go beyond just the person who may answer the phone that given day.
Maybe see if anyone at your closer ATF field center other than the Main one can possibly get you a answer.
Sorry about the troubles. But you have to realize the kind of people you are dealing with. They simply do not care. Good Luck
