Bob at DW hit this thing out of the park! Had him make me a custom 10" 44 mag barrel assembly along with drilling and tapping the shroud for the scope mount. Took less than 2 weeks from placing the order. The silhouette cuts and engravings on the shroud came out fantastic!
Took off work tomorrow to sight this bad boy in at 120 yards. Got a Bushnell 2-6 pistol scope on it. Any advice for a first time scoped pistol shooter?...
Only thing I don’t like is how loose the barrel wobbles in the frame. Once the nut is snug, there’s no movement but I’ve never seen so much play on any DW barrels before. Will see how it shoots tomorrow 😬
There’s also some surface rust on the scope mount but I’m going to have my local gunsmith cerakote it in a grey/silver color to match rest of the gun.

Pistol Scope tips: Look to see the scope is parallax free at ___ yards; then shoot at that distance. Try to use the same anchor points (I like my jaw on my shoulder) so that your eye lines up in the same location time after time. Push the pistol out to where any internal shadow just disappears.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thanks for the tip! It’s got a fixed parallax - not adjustable but it should be good enough for my needs and at distances I’m shooting out to.
Making sure I keep the gun at the same distance and my eye at the same position each time will be difficult I suspect but I’m up for the challenge. Just need to practice.

Did you lap the rings?
I did not....I was just reading about that earlier this morning. I was lazy about checking the rings for tightness and I probably could have cranked the screws down a bit more. I might go the cheap easy route first and try some friction tape or grip tape to see if that helps lock it in before I attempt lapping the rings.

I tend to "Just a little bit more." on screws, so bought torque wrenches to work on my projects. I have several scope projects that need to be worked on and have been trying to clear some $ for a lapping kit before I get to work. I hope lapping and correct torque will keep things from moving (and not stripping!).
