SO there I am, minding my own business- watching my winning bid hold steady- all the way to the last 30 seconds, when bam; someone else (prior bidder) jumps in and enters another bid. Now there's another 15 minutes of my life gone that I'll never get back. Doesn't anyone read the bidding tutorials anymore to realize the auction re-sets for another 15 minutes???
Then at less than 5 minutes remaining- HE DOES IT AGAIN!!!! C'mon already- enter a max bid and be done with it! And now he's done it a third time... I'm going to play w/ him one time, even though I'm already over my max. I'm just a bit TO-ed
Just venting and no one in Afghanistan cares. Going back to bed now...
Thanks guys.

Ron,
Been there done that too. I hate that about GB. Let the clock end when the clock ends is my thought. I have watched bidding like that drag out on something I was not even bidding on, but was just curious go on for almost an hour once.

The 15 minute rule is there to give you another chance after someone uses a "snipe" application to get in at the very last second. One of the things I really hate about fleabay.
I agree Have had those run it and keep adding time! though have sniped a few things on the fleabay myself. side note scored nicely at the Gun Show today check collections for the latest pork!

GB's 15 minute rule is great for sellers … I sold a Fazakerley Enfield No4Mk2 once that went on for quite a while and I made an extra 100 bucks out of it.
As has been stated before, without the 15 minute rule the only people that could win would be those that employ snipe programs and frankly I think thats cheating.
Thats why when buying I don't watch the auctions … I bid my max and then go do something else (or I'll end up going over my max and get caught up in a competition)

Same for me. I may rethink my max on occasion, but never watch the end of an auction I'm in, I might end up doing something stupid.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I meant etiquette- middle of the night isn't the best time to type, I guess...
I was just venting. No visits needed. I got it anyway- just cost and extra 9 dollars. I've spent 9 bucks on worse things though…

I wait to put my bid in until the end, generally with a max price. i don't see any reason to advertise that I am interested in something I want until I need to do so. Why let somebody else rethink their position? This approach is more like an in person auction, the "real" auction only lasts 5 to 20 minutes...
Of course, I have raised my Max price sometimes . Most of the time, that has worked out...

I usually wait until the end to bid, too. Bids done early on in the auction, tend to drive up the final price. If I'm wanting the best deal, I wait until it's nearing the end & plunk down my bid at the 15 minute mark. That way it doesn't re-start the countdown clock & hopefully nobody will notice that they've been outbid.
I agree that the 15 minute rule on GB is pretty lame, they should just let the clock run out like eGouge does.

I won't use GB. I know there are many honorable vendors on that board. But, when I found out that a vendor can protest negative feedback, and have it removed 9 outa 10 times, I bailed giving it a dime. Shame too because the varitey is there. I just can't stand poor administrative practices.

Hmph... usually what I want is not on the precious "safe gun list" and even if it were most sellers don't want to ship behind the tofu curtain anyway. Major PITA... 🙁
I sold aPython on GB to a CA resident one time--he called me and said his dealer wouldn't log it because it was not on the approved list.
Turns out only SS pythons were on the list--no blue ones !!!
Dealer logged it as a SS model ...

Now that is absolutely rediculous! I'm glad the dealer had enough stones to go ahead & give it the "pass", instead of hiding behind the stupid rule book.
Man, there is no way I would ever live in that stupid state. It's been EIGHT years since I've vacationed there & will probably be at least EIGHT more, at this rate. I hope the whole state declares bankruptcy in 2012...simply because the next president won't give them any stimulus money.
