I guess I am a traditionalist...I use gun oil. Unless you're slopping it on everything, it lasts a long time. My current 2-oz. bottle of Pro-Shot oil has been in use for over 3 years now. Sometimes I will use Rem-Oil, which is part of my normal cleaning process along with Rem 40X Bore Cleaner.

Slip 2000 EWL is all you ever need. I use it on everything from .50BMG M2's to .22 match pistols, and even my DW's. I have completely stopped using CLP for anything. In my experience, the Slip 2000 EWL lubricates just as well as ATF or motor oil, but does not burn off nearly as quickly, and makes cleaning much easier. I'm talking 10-12,000 rounds through a rifle without a cleaning, just periodic application fo the Slip, and everything wipes off.
If I can't get Slip 2000 EWL, then I use TW-25B, TW-25CEP spray, MC2500 (TW-25b "oil"), MC3000 (TW-25B....snot) or MC1210 (TW-25B heavy grease)
The mil-comm products are great. They are non-petroleum, long lasting, but they are incredibly expensive. A 14oz tub of TW-25B costs around $100. I use that stuff for all my work weapons, it's just too expensive to buy for myself.

I find discussions like these fascinating. I'ts sort of like are you a Chevy or a Ford guy. I don't think there is any one "perfect lube". I shoot allot of different types of weapons form revolvers to auto-loaders to historic (IE, WWII) rifles to modern rifles to shotguns.
I don't have the time, patience or expertise to stock a different lube for each "application". I shoot frequently and I clean frequently. I don't just clean and lube after a day at the range. It's not unusual for me to pull a weapon out of the case that hasn't been fired in 6 months for a quick clean and lube.
I guess for me it's a simple formula... clean often and lube lightly. I've used good old Hoppes Lubricating Oil for more than 35 years without a single problem. Last time at the range I put 250 rounds through my 1937 Mauser K98 of almost continuous fire without a problem. Most of the problems I've heard about are from guys who don't understand that when it comes to lube, less is often best.
Of course, all of this is predicated on a regimine for the range, the hunt and home defense. If I were in combat someplace I might have to rethink my personal KISS philosophy.
