Well, I got two pretty good deals today... I picked up another SS Interarms Virginian Dragoon in 44 mag for $260... So that is GTVD
Then I ran across a DW.... the ONLY DW at the show... A used and abused W-12--poor little chop...
I got it out the door for $390 with all the barrels... No wrench, but I have one. Time will tell if the nut comes off easily or not.
No visible serial number on this one, but under the crane is the number 449--nothing under the grips.

What are ya thinkin', son? Them thar 3-digit W12's are always marked under da crane... At least that's shore all I've ever seen-of-'um. hehe
Seriously though, that sounds right. I have yet to see 3-digits stamped on the grip tang. Looks to me like that poor 'ol W12 lost it's case somewhere along the way. Congrats on an excellent find, I would have been all over that one too.
Let me know if you decide to spit it up, I may be in the market...maybe.

Well the nut came right off, so now I have another project ....
Just so you guys all know, the gun is in much worse shape than the pic shows. It has a lot of bluing loss, scuffs, scrapes, etc... In fact, I've already decided I'm going to have to completely strip the cylinder finish off and do some fine sanding to remove all the dings in the cylinder.
It functions fine and lock up is great--just like any other well built DW. Just like my other W12, I think this is/will be the perfect trail gun.

You guys are always getting deals in your area and at gun shows. I have been gun shopping for the past 10 years on a regular basis. I go in all pawn shops, anywhere they sell guns, and have never seen a DW for sale. The only one I have bought that didn't come off internet gun auctions is the one I found in a local "bulletin board" by the woman who gave me a dozen eggs with it. I know I pay too much for auction guns but it's the only way I will ever get a DW. There is a gun show in Montgomery on March 12-13 and I'll be there. The last gun show here was a few months ago. I took $1,000 with me and didn't spend a dime. Cost $7 to get in so I spent about 3 hours checking out them all. I hope one day to run up on a deal. If I don't it won't be because I haven't spent time looking.

HA don't feel too bad... I am one state over and finding a DW is rare .. finding one worth having like a wet dream. DOn't know why but over smiffs get 100% of the love.. even Colts and Rugers take a back seat.... way back. I even had one shop tell me " we don't sell cheap guns in here", then showed me a taurus....
