I went to the local gun yesterday, I was there for three hours until both my hips hurt from toting around the 15-2 6VH and the 5" PM7, I also had my "baby" 15-2 with EWK EPC on it. I was hunting a holster for that.
I was able to find a suitable holster for the EPC as long as I don't try to use it for competition. It woudl still snag just too must, and givent eh soft interior it would shred doing much any way, but at least I have something to tote it around in. cost $25
I went ahead and bought some reloaded .38 special - 158gr SWC. The guy said they TRY to use only once shot, but that they could not guarantee it. $11.99 per box plus tax.
I did see one gun that would have been nice to have. It was a Colt Python set up for PPC. with a custom slab barrel ( not as big as my EPC) and aristicat sight. Asking price was $1950. It also came with the original short ( 3"???) barrel.
There were exactly 2 DW at the show ( not including my 3): Lil Dan and a Classic Bobtail(asking price $1000).
So the stories:
Story #1: after being in the show only about 15 minutes, a fellow from the local gun club runs up to me with his new purchase, DW "Lil Dan". Typical gun 5 shot, sub size frame, palmer gun, short barrel ( 2 or 2.5) with a barrel nut. He says he got it at a good price and wants to know if I want to buy it. (I am pretty sure he was 1 waiting on me, and 2 counting on me to buy it. Unfortunatly, its the end of the month, and funds are pretty close to depleted this time around. So I turned it down. While I would not mind having one, I dont really have any use for it. He wanted $250. About 2 hours later I saw him again and he approached me saying he unloaded the DW. He said a smith he knew looked it over and said the sear was bad and that he needed to get rid of it ASAP. I think he sold it for under $200.
Two things about this. 1: I know DWs and just never heard of a sear going bad (not including target guns wherer the sinctered metal sear was over worked adn thus wears overly quick) . I strongly suspect the "smith" was comparing the action to a smiff.
2. While its nice to be known as the guy that likes Dans, it doesnt mean I will buy every Dan that comes along regardless of quality. This is the seconf DW I have turned away lately.
Story #2: I would pull out the EPC shrouded gun at any possible excuse, and ws just having fun with gawks. BTW yes it had the LB winged grip on it as well. So I was getting very tired as I had been there about 3 hours, when older ( and rather chubby) guy in a wheel chair states rather loudly: "theres a fellow I wouldn't want to mess with ... with those two big ole guns on his sides"! That's as much invitation as I need to fraw out the EPC... real quick the fellows side-kick states how that has to be a 44 mag..
"Nope.. Just a .357"
"Are you sure?? it sure is a big gun!"
"Pretty sure, owned since new in 1986"
So chubby fellow oos and awes while handling it and says; "so how much?"
"not for sale"
"Oh if you brought it, you would consider selling it.."
"Well, your right, let me re-phase.. anything is for sale at the right price, but I don't think anyone here woudl pay my price..."
"well whats the price?"
"for the gun 1 2" barrel, 2 4" barrels, 3 6"barrels including that slab barrel, 1 8" barrel, about 8 grips, original case, buckles, patches, tools and other extras... $1500"
***Now before yall get excited.. NO I have no intention of selling at that or any other price***
"yep your right, you will be keeping that gun at that price."
Having had my fun, I finally left the show.... fun times.
On that second story, it does make me kinda sad still. I am VERY certain that guy figures that what I said went with the gun was not worth the price I stated. Yet I am equally certain that is not only a good price ... its a GREAT price on what I have ( using GB as a guide). We are such a nich group.....

Although there are 8-10 gunshops within an hour of me, there are very rarely any gun shows, and no good ones.
If someone walks up to me tomorrow selling a Lil' Dan for $250, I'm buying it.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Pinetor,
Great report and story for sure. I like your last statement about being such a nich group, so true it is. I too was at a gun show close to home on Saturday and found two DW pieces at the entire show, a beat up set of small frame grips, bought them for the in-lays, $3.00. I also saw a clean looking 15-2, with 6" V barrell, likely the most common example of DW that exists, $369.00, Have enough of them and walked by. Cam home with some various ammo and that was about the day.
Thinking about your statement on a "niche group" I have after hitting the shows for the last two years concluded that most of the exhibitors have also figured us out to be a very internet friendly crowd and do not even bother taking DW's to the shows anymore because of the narrow audience at a show. They know they can do much better on GB and except for the exhibitors that have not yet gone internet, I think that this reason is why it is hard to find DW's at shows anymore.
