I went to the gun show in Montgomery, Ala. yesterday. There was a .357 super mag blued, rubber grips, not pretty at all. Asking $590. Then there was this beater, 14-2, more brown than blue, beat up grips, been in a tackle box, asking $175.
Then there was this absolutely perfect .357 blued pac, complete except for belt buckle, in original case, was vented, heavy. Wow, it was beautiful, asking $1,000. If I didn't already have a pac I would have bought it.
I walked out with a AR-15 and 250 rounds of ammo. Nice gun. I only had a limited amount of time to spend there so I left without really looking closely at the guns on display. I did notice that the AR-15 guns were everywhere and selling like hot cakes. One vendor told me he sold completely out last weekend in Dothan, Al. I think it's wise to "stock up."

Yes this is my first AR. I have a safe full of handguns and a fair amount of hunting rifles but all long guns have a limit of 5-6 rounds. One of my pistols has 19+1 but limited range. The .223/5.56 AR I bought was a basic model without the bells and whistles. It's a DPMS with 2-30 round mags and good sights. With the world like it is today and where it may be going, I need something for social work. I live in the country, can't see the highway or any other houses from my house. I think standing on my front porch with the AR in hand may someday make the statement that I take my safety seriously and will protect my property. My driveway is more than a quarter of a mile long and my house is sitting in a 20 acre pasture on a hill. I need to be able to reach out and touch.
