My dughter and I spent last Saturday morning at a gun show, second time this year. I already shared the rare box of ammo in the reloading section, but we brought home another find as well. our typical run at a show is to browse all the tables first for "Dan stuff" then go back and negotiate. I found this one lone 740 that was rather shiny, but tagged at $825.00, little pricey for semi- Barney, still really shiny and not much cylinder ring. Talksed with the table owner and he was surprised I did not think he meant magnum and that I knew what a "Supermag" was, boy if that didn't yield a half hour conversation. He was asinterested in Dan's as any table holder I have ever met at a show. Most just are glad to have someone take a Dan off their hands, what do they know? Bought a few grips screws, box of rifle ammo and went back to the table a third time and stated I really did not need the gun, but if he was to sell it for $500.00 I could do that.... Well here it is:

Good grief, that is at it's finest! Way to go, that's an excellent score!
You know...I bet it was almost a releif for the guy to not have to explain to yet another clueless person what a SuperMag really was. That right there may have been a good enough reason for him to let it go cheap...just to spare him the anguish of explaining it any more that day, if you didn't buy it.

Excellent negotiating! Nice looking photos! I think this year's calendar will be even better than last years!
I'm thinking were talking Calendar(s), so many guns, so few months
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for the compliments. After getting it home I realized the barrell nut was apparently "stuck" and somewhat knurled at the grip points, I thought that must have been some of the reason it ended up traded at some point. I could not grip it with a wrench, so soaked it overnight with PB Blaster then used an awesome EWKStuff SM wrench, deadblow hammer acting like an impact driver and off came the nut! Kudos to EWK wrenches and being strong enough to do this! Put a new nut on the end, gave it a good cleaning and we are ready for some range time...
