Today I talked to Dan Wesson's Master Gunsmith, Bob Collins. He told me he is retiring in the next 30 days!
For all of us that has ever sent a revolver back to Dan Wesson, Bob has likely had his hands on it.
Personally, I plan to send Thank You card and maybe a picture of all my Dan's. Does anyone know if he has a 2022 DWF Calendar or Mousepad?

That's terrible! I have a 15-2 SN 007 I wanted to get refinished. Is someone else going to be working on revolvers?

I’m wondering the same. Hopefully they trained someone though that’s hard to pass on his years of skills

Does anyone know Bob’s background. After talking and dealing with him for years I never asked him how he got with DW. Did he used to work for DW when they were in Massachusetts?

I hear ya! After Covid shutdowns they lost a great smith in Endre who I would send my 1911's to for work. He did fabulous work and was great to work with. And they also lost Scott who I dealt with for parts who was also great to work with.

Oh no shit. Didn’t know Endre was gone too.
Shawn not Scott. But yeah he was great too. Now he’s back to being mayor of Norwich, NY
Just Genny now doing parts but she seems good. Been there awhile too.

I've never sent anything to Bob...so I guess I won't miss him as much as you guys.
But if he's made it to the point where he feels he's ready to retire, I say more power to him! 
I hope he has a long and wonderful retirement.

I too have never sent anything in to DW. But as far as retiring, the sooner the better. No more boss, employees, biting your tongue to keep from offending customers, dealing with purveyors, putting up with aholes. I was a restauranteur. Maybe the worst business in the WORLD. SO glad I wasn't in business through Covid, or the Great recession, or Obamacare, etc, etc,

I have made many dear friends on the forum. Most are Floridians I see as often as possible and talk to or text often daily. Others visit when in Florida or will in the future. When you get older you lose friends to death or disagreements. Without the new friends from the Forum my life would be very much poorer.
It certainly helps that we share common interests. Snake-eye is touring the country in his motor home. Hugelk is morel hunting, Stinger is having a house built, and Mark Colt SAA is my go to source of all things firearms related. The man is a font of firearms knowledge. He knows EVERYTHING, almost. Those are just a few of my Buds. Kurt, next trip you take to Florida I expect to meet you!!!
