Yes, Happy Fathers day to all.
Here's some info about the occasion I didn't know previously, until I heard a little blurb about it on the radio the other day. This year marks the 100th year since Father's Day was first put into idea...although it didn't become an official U.S. day of observance until 1972.

My daughter should be here soon to make me breakfast & then we're going to a movie as a family this afternoon. Wanted to go shooting, but it's raining buckets again this morning...YAY, free lawn watering!

Same to all the Dads. I got my best ever Father's Day gift early today. My sons Captain gave all the guys on his Cutter 10 minutes of SatPhone time to call Dad. Got his call about 3 AM from "somwhere in the Persian Gulf".
It's a Great Day
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

My best-ever father's day gift came 2 days ago when my daughter-in-law gave us our first grandchild. It's a boy, born 19 june 2009 at 14:14 EDT, 6 lbs., 15.8 oz. Mother and son doing fine. Father, not so much, he came off a 36 hour shift (medical resident on-call duty) to find that a trip to the hospital was needed. He was up a total of almost 70 hours. He'll survive.

Sounds like you guys had some pretty cool father's day gifts. I had a very average day in terms of nothing out of the ordinary. But just reflected on some events.
My family took me out to Texas Roadhouse for lunch, great meal. Then my daughter asked to go to the range and shoot .22 again. She only just started doing this with a rifle and loves it. Well she really had to twist my arm… but we went to the range to keep her happy . It was a .22 caliber kind of day. I won a Henry lever .22 at an NRA banquet this past winter and called it hers so we took that along. I took the DW 22 for Dad to shoot, she wants to try it too ,but not when someone else is there watching. Remember those days? My oldest son took the AR-15 along to play with. It was only my family and one other pair of men at the range, but it was just very cool watching my children enjoying a sport, safely, respectably while I mostly watched and assisted. 30- years ago I was them with my dad doing the same. How much our society has lost this continuity with our children.
Side note, I was watching the guy beside us and it looked like a DW frame he was sporting. I walked over and he was shooting a model 15. He seemed surprised that I knew it from a distance, I explained I sort of have a liking for the Dan's. He never saw a DW 22 before, so before he left he also got to shoot one with a 4″ and a 6″ barrel. He thought till he was done he must go find one of those for his own. Maybe another member in the making? Grassroots DWF recruiting.
Overall just one of those days that at the end of it you would not mind hitting the replay button on.

SMF, that sounds like the perfect Father's Day! I was really wishing I could have gone shooting with my kids yesterday...if only the area wasn't quite so soggy. Today, as it turns out, is a coudless & sunny day. Yep, that's the sort of luck I have.
That's pretty neat that you ran into another DW owner& got to educate him a little. Did you tell him about the "larger" DW's you left at home?
