As I mentioned in another thread, I have a DW Heritage 1911 on gunbroker, it has recieved two bids from the same bidder and has met reserve. I just got a message from the bidder saying he bid on my auction by mistake and wants to cancel his bids and wants my help. While I find it odd, I can understand mistakes happen and I'd rather have someone cancel a bid than just not pay. What I don't know is how to cancel someone's bid. I don't see a tool for that. Anybody know what the protocol is for that? Do I let the auciton run its course then if he wins just pretend the sale didn't happen and relist?
What say you all?

Contact the Support center and see if they can do anything, otherwise let it run its course and then:
If the buyer offers a reasonable explanation for the problem, we ask that you show some patience and understanding. Some buyers are new and do not fully comprehend the auction process. Buyers are human beings and human beings make mistakes now and again.
When a buyer fails to complete a transaction and offers no reasonable explanation, please use our My GunBroker Feedback page to submit a comment about the transaction. Our User Agreement is very specific that a bid is a binding agreement to buy the item, and we terminate the accounts of users who accumulate excessive negative feedback.
We monitor the feedback ratings and comments to decide when to close a user's account. If you do not post feedback, we have no way to know that there is a problem. Do not send user complaints to the site administrator via email - complaints must be posted through the feedback system.
We are sorry but as per our User Agreement we cannot force the buyer to respond; situations like this are the reason we provide a feedback system."

The staff at Gunbroker will cancel the bid. Here's the link:

I've had to ask for a couple to be canceled myself....they'll cancel it for you.

Thanks Ron and Harly, I sent a message to the support staff and I'll see where it goes from here. The guy that bid on the gun has no feedback score so I assume he is new to GB. I'd rather have him back out now than do what another bidder did to me, which was buy and not pay. He wouldn't even communicate, so he got an "F".
The current bidder bid twice over a span of about 13 seconds and went from an opener of about $500 to $1200, sure seemed enthusiastic to up his bid almost $700 in less than a minute. Must have gotten cold feet.

It's a non-issue now - there's another bid on it. If the auction had ended without the bid being canceled, there would be a final value fee - no way around that. The only alternative at that point is to file a non-paying bidder claim which takes time and is a PIA. The best option is to have the bid canceled beforehand.
