Many thanks to Oledog for his help with my DW. I changed out the spring for a factory spring. I made the mistake of over lubing the gun. Had it all put together and decided it needed more lube. I went to the range and took some different loads(primers) for a test. I fired close to 40 rounds with one light strike. These were federal primers. Then the stop fell out of the side plate. I saw it on the bench and tapped it back in. The lube I shot into the action actually penetrated around the stop. Both of the  DWs are great accuracy wise. I was shooting my 6in and my 8in. I didn’t see a whole lot of difference between them. Any day at the range is good but yesterday was better than most. Looks like tomorrow will be a 22 day at the range.

Could have been a high primer. I did try some loads with win primers, not nearly as good as the Fed primers.

Cliff, you need to loctite that  cylinder stop in. But don't press it in too far. It happens because of a design flaw. It breaks off. Replacements can be press fit and loctited in with a little fitting. If you don't it will fall out again, and again, until lost. I think they are broken off by pounding on the ejector rod to remove stuck cases. Best to use a pencil, eraser end first and hold the cylinder from pounding against the stop. In 1986 the small frame guns got the new sideplate that 715s have since 1982. Also when(1986) the knurled hammer tang debuted. Once broken the sideplate can crack at the spot. Dan Wesson has no more blue sideplates.
