About six weeks ago I stumbled across a nice 22 4V, advertised as having an 8" barrel too, for $499. Not having the $$$ at the moment, I put it on lay away. So today I "bailed her out" and brought home:
While this is not the hottest deal we've ever seen on a Model 22, it does come with:
8V B/A that looks to be in perfect condition, probably shot very little
A Pachmayr Gripper, the original box says it cost $18.75 new
An AJE Eagle Grip, the original box says $28.95, marked down to $12.50
A DW wood finger-groove (maybe Combat?) grip
Three extra front sights; three of the five are the taller profile fronts, one each red/white/yellow
The 22 is in really nice condition, very minor scratches and absolutely flawless function. Overall, one of the cleanest used guns I've ever bought.
Since I shoot a LOT of .22 lr (at least weekly, usually more often) this is a great fit for me. Not sure yet on the 8V, we'll see. The Eagle grip is fabulous, I've never had one before and it's a definite keeper.
I've lost out on at least two great DW's by waiting to think it over, one of them was a 22 a lot like this one (and if I ever see another $750 CBOB I won't hesitate again )
When you see the right one, just do it!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

SWeeeeeeeet! All the years that I have been shooting, I have never shot a DW .22
The only thing that came close was a Colt Trooper MK3. Heavy with all that extra bore and cylinder metal. It was like shooting a very loud BB gun. But a lot more accurate. Let folks know how she does.

I already know it will be great, I've been shooting a 722 for several years. Since this is the first DW revolver I've bought in a few years, I'm going to go the "My First Dan Wesson" route:
-Shoot it just the way I got it
-Give it a quick cleaning, shoot it
-Pop the sideplate, give it a quick interior washout and lube, shoot it
-Average Joe cleanup and spring change (only), shoot it
-Final step will be any fitting, smoothing, tuning if needed
All the shooting will be under very repeatable conditions, indoors @ 50 ft from a rest, same ammo, etc. Obviously I'll be saving comparison targets, and I'm going to check S/A and D/A trigger pull at each step too.
