Im looking at a High Standard Sentinel .357. Is this a very early pork chop that you cannot change the barrel? The shop is calling it a Dan Wesson.
Dan Wesson produced them for High Standard, so for all intents and purpose, it's a Dan. I'm sure Ole Dog will be along soon to add some useful information. I believe it is a removable barrel model.

............removable barrel would be sweet, a friend of mine told me about it and it is on my local armslist in a local shop about 10 miles from me.I need to get over to look at it.
Stupid job keeps getting in my way...what the hell,it pays the bills and buys my toys.

Removable barrel and adjustable sights. 600.00
I cant do that..offered 400.00 and got told no. H.S BA's are just too hard to find to make it worth messing with for me.
If it was DW marked I would be building me a pork chop pack.
I guess I am confused by the " H.S BA's are just too hard to find to make it worth messing with for me." Are you buying the entire revolver or asking them to part it out for the barrel assembly?
If it helps I can tell you this. I have two HS marked Pork Chops. A Sentinel MK11 service model. ( same as a DW 14-1 ) and a HS target adjustable sight model sentinel MK111 ( same as a DW 15-1 ) Target model came to me with a DW 2.5 inch barrel from a 14-2 that Bubba put together. ( don't ask ) I call it my "orphan" revolver.
Started searching for an appropriate HS shroud and barrel assembly. After a year of looking a DW model 15 porker shroud and barrel came on the radar. I figured I had better grab it as I was finding out the HS shroud was "made from unobtanium" as ole-dog would say. So now I had the frame of a HS with the shroud from a DW but at least it was a proper Pork chop shroud. Wrong front sight though because it was from a DW model 15, not a 15-1. I figured that would be the final step in getting this revolver working as a shooter. More than a year later ( Thats over two years since original purchase ) a HS Sentinel MK 111 shroud pops up! I grabbed it and paid dearly for it. Much more than what I paid for the DW pork chop shroud. Sold the DW porker shroud to a forum member who needed it for same amount I paid for it. Now the orphan has become a complete HS. Remember, if you are looking for HS shrouds they were only manufactured by DW for two years. To the best of my knowledge there were no HS pistol packs sold so there are probably not more HS shrouds than there are HS frames floating around like the DW shrouds.
Good luck
DD is correct. HS cataloged the extra BA's but never had or sold any. The only ones that show up are from guns that LE destroys the frames. I have a MK 11 with a 53/4" and a 33/4" but still missing a 21/4". I have a 21/1/4" complete gun but no extra BA. If I get any length I can use the 21/4" and make a complete pack. At least DW suitcases are not roll marked. Lol.
Darrel, you will need a model 15-1 shroud for the correct front sight height.

This is an entire revolver, however, High Standard barrel assemblies are hard to come by I have seen one for sale but it looks like it was on fire. If I was to put DW BA's with this and tried to build a non existent pack ( i like building pacs from scraps) it would be as you say "an orphan" lower resale value as a porker pac. Im not interested in a frame with 'High Standard" and barrel assemblies marked Dan Wesson.
If the shop would come down on the price I would buy just to say I bought my first.
I have 2 x 357's,1 x .44 and 1 x 22 lr so now it is time to build a porker.
I know where there is a blued .41 mag but as you stated I will have to pay dearly for it.

I have read a post you did a while back making that same statement...thanks for the reminder.

I may have some pork BA's I could part with! Would have to do some searching to see what all is loose. Just putting it out there!
The High Standard is no longer with in my reach.
