I hit the jackpot this weekend, at least in my opinion. A friend and I made the 300 mile round trip to the gun show in Atlanta and what a disappointment. We also hit a few gun stores while out and saw a lot of nice toys but no DW's. However we made one last detour on the way home and in a small shop, There she was, A Norwich 7445 VH8 hardly fired. A few small scratches but I believe I can work those out. She shoots great with 44 mags and the 445 brass is on the way. All she needs now is some new lumber to replace the mono-grip and we are set. I will get yawl's thoughts but I talked the guy into $850 out the door and was happy with that. Maybe with a little luck, soon I might qualify for "CRA" status. Any way photos to come, as soon as the sun comes back out.

Bruce:

I see you've been bitten (again?) by DWAS (Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome).  It sounds like a beautiful gun but we can't tell for sure without the pics.

Congrats!! Even though I haven't seen pics yet, the story itself brought a tear to my eye.Laugh

Bruce,

What type lumber you looking for to get rid of that Hogue?  Good find too.  Those small shops are gems aren't they?  It is half the fun making the discovery of a hidden jewel.  My local shop keeps all the DW's behind the counter till I check them out, because in my area I am the only oddball who has apparently contracted DWAS!  They are so glad this very ill individual happens by every so often to help them out of their dreaded DW's.    We need those pics....

Jackpot for sure!

Half the fun is keeping that straight face when you see it - "yeah, I'm not really interested in one a' those, but let me take a look at it anyway..."

A set of zebra would be great if I could find a set, or some Pao Fero or whatever you call that wouldn't be bad either. The rubber types shoot better but I just love the look of some nice wood. And yes I doubt I had my poker face on during this deal. I have been wanting one of these for some time but with the current market did not figure I would find one I could afford.

Hmmm, is my brass here yet?

That is a great find, especially in an out-of-the-way gunshop! The 445SM is an excellent round, but save the .44 Mags for a large frame .44 version...that is an excuse to buy another gun. Or two. Smile

Thanks for the incentive but I already have two 44s,

Hmmmm. Although a 744 would be nice.Wink
