So I have wanted to put a scope on my DW for awhile now but just could not afford the $50.00 bucks for the mount.

After seeing this at the local shop I started thinking. Why cant I just modify one if these to fit?

After some quick measuring this is what I ended up with...

The only thingI need to do is have the mount and shroud drilled and tapped! This mount cost me about $10 and 1/2 hour of my time.

I'm thinking duct tape would be the classic choice.

BTW- A Burris no-drill mount just sold on Ebay for $30.10. Much better alternative.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I would guess that recoil would wreak havoc w/ your threads in the shroud assy.  I think you need to secure it to the top-strap in some fashion also.

Just my $.02

GoodLuck

Drill and tap in the shroud is a very viable option, in a vented shroud I would tryto orient the holes into the non-vented area of the shroud

First off yes I know that you can get some mounts for around $30 but I have akid on the way and I am the only one working so I went this route. Plus this way I can use my iron sights if I dont want to use the red dot.

Now I just need to find out what size to tap and drill any suggestions?

Go big or go home.... 8-40 is a must for heavy recoil.
