While I was at local box sporting goods store to buy hunting ammo ( 7mm-08) for my son, I ran across a pistol cleaning rod kit ( but marked with the store brand)
Once I "tweaked" it abit I really like it. NOTE: I found the same kit at Walmart for $6.99 under the Winchester label ( I paid the $9.99). The tweaking was in the form of using my dremel to soften the corners of the patch holder, which seemed very sharp.
In fact the only reason I bought it was my old nylon patch holder had finally stripped.

I agree, they look nice.
My only personal complaint (and I'm sorry Pine, I don't mean to aim this at you directly, I'm just frustrated in general on this subject) is that anything with Cabela's label (and damn-sho' anything that sez Wally World on it) is made in China. There's even a nice looking Cabela's one with a wooden case.
But me, I don't do made in China. Or, at least that's what I try to stick by. These days it's really hard not to, there's simply no choices any more. I will often go without unless it's something I can't do without & that nobody else makes…or HAS made. The "has made" usually includes exhausting used stuff on local & eGouge sales places.
You'd be amazed in the quality differences between any 50+ year old USA made item & the crap we're constantly shoveled from across the pond these days. Holding the comparisons in your hand is like night-n-day. However not all current "made in USA" stuff is still considered first rate, you have to look for it.
I'm gonna end my opinion here, but implore you that you owe it to yourself (on every purchase) to find something made locally/nationally before you cave in & buy that next item from the current Chinese "Mao-capitalists". What an oxymoron, if I've ever heard one. Watch for some foolish putz selling his "Granddad's tools", you are certain to land some excellent (and quality) stuff.
