Ok, after reading the hang tag that Jody posted here...

/?page_id=3/dan-wesson-history/dw-hang-tag/#p20315

...I decided to see what I could find out about Bob MacWilliams (president of DWA for a time). As usual with Google searches, you can get derailed from your original path fairly easily, due to the abundance on info that pops up...Confused...although I did discover that Bob holds the patent for the long hammer spur on the large frame revolvers.

Apparently it's designed that way for easier access to the hammer, when a scope is mounted on the gun.Wink I think I read that somewhere before, but that little nugget of info was probably flushed accidentally with a bottle-o-Budweiser or something.occasion

Anyway...I landed on this thread on the Firing Line.

 http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229467

Post # 19 (Swamp Yankee) sez some things I hadn't heard before, including that DW himself designed the gun.

Post # 25 (Grant Cunningham) called BS on some of the statements & backed it up with facts.

Post # 27 (Swamp Yankee) threw a bomb, by stating that DW didn't die until 1989??Surprised

Post # 30 (Grant Cunningham) straightened him out, by laying down more facts. It was DW's son (Seth's brother) Dan Wesson III, who died in June 1990.

Just some interesting stuff that I thought I'd pass on, in the never ending quest for DW info.Smile

I'm going to send Mr. Cunningham an e-mail invitation to join us & hopefully he'll let us pick his brain a bit. Admittedly, I don't know the guy very well & according to his (very informative on a myriad of subjects) website

http://www.grantcunningham.com/ , he is one BUSY dude...but I hope he will stop in & say hi.

Grant Cunningham is a very busy and highly respected gunsmith, and one of the pioneering DW gunsmiths. If he will visit us occasionally that would be great.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Any info is great to piece together the puzzle.

I should be more vigilant in digging out what I have on hand and putting it together. Some of the articles I have are still packed in the boxes from moving 9 years ago.Confused
