I have recently came across two classifieds on two different forums for older Monson Dan Wesson 715's for sale. Both were asking $1300-$1500 for their guns with 2 barrels(one a 6" & 8" the other a 6" & 4"). Both seemed to be under the impression that their revolvers are worth just as much as the new Norwitch revolvers, even going so far as to quote ads for the newer guns.
My question is-is this a new trend or has this been going on for a while? I just recently(~ 5 months ago)got my first Dan Wesson Revolver(715vh 6")and knew the value of older DW revolvers before I made the trade(lots of research). Do these guys know the value of their guns and are just hoping to get a sucker to bite or are they really so dense that the think their guns are worth that much? I know this is a question that really can only be answered by the seller, but I'd like the opinions of some of the guys who have had thier Dans for a while and maybe have seen this first hand.
Rant over.

I have noticed the same thing. I assumed the older guns might have some collector value and that might drive the price up a little for certain models/features. I know if I tried to sell my DW's I would not be asking what these guys are. I always say there are a lot of high priced guns for sale, the question is how many get sold and for what price.

There are about 140 Dans of all calibers on Gunbroker. If you only count pre CZ guns there may be about 85, the vast majority are 15-2s. Of the 85 or so, 75 are overpriced and get no bids. So, to answer you question, is this a new trend? No, it is absofuckinglutely normal. Not only for Dans but for all firearms.
