OfflineThe POTUS is signing into law a very restrictive regulation that will affect your ability to buy, sell or trade any ivory product no matter how small. Wether it be an ivory bead front sight on a shotgun, stock inlays or pistol grips. To make it easier on law enforcement YOU must now be able to Prove the ivory in question is pre-ban CITES approved ivory or it will be confiscated.

OfflineI like elephants too,big and small. They have only confiscated and destroyed 6 tons of illegally imported ivory in the last 25 years, less than a quarter of a percent of that imported into china, thailand and vietnam. We already had the toughest laws in the world for ivory and endangered species and could only utilize ivory taken before the ban (1989). I can understand banning import-export but why stop trade inside our national borders in  an already existing stock that has nothing to do with the animals being poached today?

OfflineSame argument holds true for global warming. If there is such a thing, it's global, not US Continental.... no matter what we do, it won't offset the pollution put out by other countries around the globe; China and India to name a few.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

OfflineMeanwhile anyone having a pistol, rifle, shotgun, musical instrument,jewelry,furniture,knic-nacs, gaming pieces etcetera containing ANY ivory has the onus put on them to PROVE that the ivory is pre-ban. How about that nice writing set Grandpa gave to Dad when he graduated in 1979? If it needs repair or restoration you had better have the receipt saying it was pre-pre-ban ivory -OH- I forget there was no such thing then-----your scr-wed.

OfflineI really think that with everything going on in the WORLD, there have got to be more significant issues for Barry to be more engaged with.
If I tried to list those more important issues, we would need an upgrade to our recent Forum upgrade to list them all.
DWF does not have the capacity to list the failures of our elected Dictators
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

OfflineFor anyone seriously interested in the ivory issue, here is a website that seems to know their stuff.

OfflineWilly& Photohause, sorry, I did not mean to be provocateurish(?), I was just freaking out. I had talked to an agent in the Texas department of F&G and he was adamant " no sales allowed". Called him back and corrected him after ya'lls help with calming me down and following the threads you gave me, thank you. I am a retired master jeweler and was wondering what to do with the kilos of ivory I'm setting on, I can use only so many front sights for my Dan Wesson ect... Thank you again for being understanding.
