My wife and I were listening to a Jimmy Buffett cd today and and a song titled Incommunicado was playing and made me think about John Wayne... When I was growing up there was always John Wayne movies on some channel on the weekends. Now I rarely see them on any more. Something just seems wrong about that!
Part of the lyrics to the song below:
Now on the day that John Wayne died
I found myself on the continental divide
Tell me where do we go from here?
Think I'll ride into Leadville and have a few beers
Think of "Red River", "Liberty Valence" can't believe
the old man's gone
So what is your favoriate John Wayne movies?
- The Cowboys
- McClintock
- Hitari
- EL Dorado
- Rio Bravo
- The Shootist

Guys, come on!
The Searchers, not the latter years "John Wayne", but the most extraordinary cinematography and scenery ever in any movie.
Otherwise, Rio Baravo, Rio Lobo, McClintock
And, The Sands of Iwo Jima
THE DUKE LIVES ON
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The Cowboys is my #1 John Wayne Kboy movie. Young men coming of age, hard times, getting the job done, good guys vs bad guys, etc. I have several of the old B&W movies that I like...when I grew up the Sat. movies cost a dime and any thing on TV was B&W.
I never saw The Duke with a DW, but those Colts in The Shootist...nice!
