I saw this on Gunbroker and was curious why this looked so odd ? Do you think someone refinished these to that chrome like look ? Or is this some different finish that DW offered that I've just never seen ? (Also says "Pistol Pack" but no case included, so in my mind not REALLY a Pack at all)

Looks like this has been finished in nickel, I had a 15-2 done in nickel a number of years ago. Except for some photo editing possibilities, mine looks very similar. DW did offer a nickel finish during the time frame of this gun, some of the characteristics of this nickel gun are sort of match to a DW "factory" nickel.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Doesn't look re-finished to me. The lettering appears sharp and not blended on the edges from buffing.
Tis is true. Did they plate the trigger and hammer too? How about the barrels?
Trigger and hammer look gold. The Barrel on the gun at the forcing cone looks silver.
Endeavor to persevere,
Press on regardless.

It is a 5 digit early 15-2 with a short hammer spur. I think they did offer nickel then. It could be a factory job. The gold plated parts are usually seen when the 44 mag was introduced. The foam under the cloth does look like it is from a pistol pack. I think the gun dates from before the yellow cloth was introduced. Lastly, I am not buying the used only 2 or 4 times. Regardless, it is very nice.

On my nickel gun (originally a 15-2) all of the lettering is every bit as clear and cleanly defined as on my 15-2, and actually (maybe) slightly sharper and clear than my 715.
Nickel, and the underlying copper, is a very thin finish. I know that the gunsmith polished my 15-2, but I don't believe that the bluing was completely polished off.
I once owned this 14-2 that I think was done in chrome. The plating was noticeably thicker in a side by side comparison with the nickel. Incidentally, the 14-2 was transferred from the FFL as a 715

Well, I was hasty. It may not be a 5 digit gun. The pictures are bad and the last digit may be obscured. That may not be pistol pack foam under the cloth. I do take those "my father's gun " stories with a grain of salt. If it is truly a factory nickel there may be a battle in the end. The Hulk ( Dr. David Banner )versus the Sandman ( Glassbreaker).
