Anybody ever think of this...has it come up?

I'm thinking boating/canoeing and such.

Any avenues as to how it could be done? Probably several ways to do it.

Are you talking about a ring on the butt of the grip or somewhere else?  Putting one on the grips would be as easy as turning in a screw.  You could even make something that would replace the grip screw.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

I love the concept of a lanyard ring. Just like Ducco(sp)  in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." I have a nice Colt 1917 with one. Bought it to have something to use 45ACP in if Ammunition was hard to come by. Looking at a Star Model B with one. Actually, if push comes to shove a leather strap tied to the trigger guard works to. Attached to the grip screw could be problematic if it tighten the screw while it dangled. Concealed carry hanging under your shirt may be neat.

I'd guess that an eyebolt screw with the proper thread pitch could have a nut locktited in place to screw into the grip to the correct depth to allow the revolver to function.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

After your post yesterday I saw on eBay some lanyard rings. 3 types. One that goes on Pachmyer Presentation grips for Colts and Smiths. One that goes on Hogue rubber grips for Smiths and one that goes on wood Smith grips.  I bought a couple of each. To experiment and worse case to use as they were intended. On Colts and Smiths. I will report on it. They were very inexpensive.

I just used a Q.D. sling swivel stud!

There's plenty of wood available in the grips to screw one in & you can modify the sling swivel to take something like parachute cord with a safety QD so it wont drown you if you go into water & the gun gets jammed up on the bottom.

One of the first Dans I bought was a 357  8" barrel set up with a scope and had a swivels silver soldered on the underside of the barrel and the grip screw. Who ever did it and I've seen another setup like it on a local web site, did a good job.

Endeavor to persevere,
Press on regardless.

Nice solution mister callan.  I may copy that in the future on my DWs.  Who made your grips?  I've got the factory Sacramento grips on my small frame guns and I don't want to drill them; your grips look pretty nice!

Ole Dog: any report on those screws for the Smiths?  I thought S&W had a grip screw on the survival type 500 (&460?) that had a ring hole.

I've been upside down in a canoe & kayak...more than a few times.
