Okay kind of a dumb question but is there a difference between a rifle scope and a handgun scope??

Any recommendations for my DW?

The two major differences are eye relief and parallax.  Most rifle scopes will have an eye relief of about 3 to 4 inches and a parallax set to around 100 yards.  Most pistol scopes can have an eye relief from about 9 inches out to 18 inches and parallax will be somewhere around 50 yards.  Of coarse there are always exceptions.  Also, rifle and pistol scopes with adjusable parallax (adjustable objective) are available.  Follow this link basic scope terminology ->  http://www.myoan.net/tipstricks/riflescopeterm.html

Brand quality varies too and preference. I prefer Leupold pistol scopes and have enjoyed success with Bauch & Lomb aka Bushnell Elite rifle scopes.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Eye relief and parallax, as mentiond are the two biggest things.  I have had excellent resluts with Leouplod and Burris hand gun scopes.  I had this Burris for many years.
