Hello Gents,

I am looking at a DW .22 and have a few questions, please. I may not be able to buy this revolver because it has a 4" barrel, which makes it about 4mm too short to be legal up here unless you have a grandfathered licence (which I do not).

First, there are marks on the back of the cylinder and I was wondering if this is caused by the barrel being threaded in too much, creating insufficient head space and gouging the back of the cylinder.

Second, could somebody please help identify the manufacturing date.  Serial # A029259.  I looked in the registry and there is nothing listed for these .22s.

Last, there is no denying this has been a well-liked shooter, any ideas on what the value may be?

Thanks again,

You can find eight of them out on Gun Broker very nice ones most with six or eight inch barrels with a Buy Now for 650 some with starting price before bidding around 400.00.

Any suggestions about how the bank of the cylinder got chewed up?  Also, the A0 in the serial number seems to be odd, does anyone have some more information about it, please?

It seems when DW started adding letters to serial numbers the letter A stood for 22 caliber.

Looks to me that the rear of the cylinder got dinged up from someone being careless, for whatever reason. Maybe they had a few stuck cases one day?
