(UPDATED with New reply on 06/28) Looking for a preferably New Dan Wesson 9mm. Requirements are basically that same size/weight of the Glock 17, or CZ 75.
Only own a Glock 19. But I shoot more consistently with my son's G17 or CZ75. I want a comparable Dan Wesson
Recommendations??? (Don't say:"Practice more with your G19!" or "go buy a Glock or CZ")

I dont have Glocks, but I'd guess a Glock is a lot lighter than a CZ75 which is all steel.
I have a DW Pointman in 9mm. Fantastic gun. But not a carry gun. Big and heavy.
If I were to carry a DW I'd look into an aluminum frame model like the Vigil CCO.
It all depends on how you want to use the gun.

My Guardian is an alloy frame, lighter weight, commander. Very dependable and more than accurate enough for self defense. I am sure it is a little larger in size and heavier than a Glock (don't know never had one). The ECO is a shorter 3.5" barrel aluminum frame (discontinued tho) and the TCP which is a 4" barrel alum frame. Never shot either of these so just going by size/weight for a more comfortable carry.

Hi. I've run a 19 in IDPA for years. Have had a 17 and a 34 as well, but always preferred the 19. It provided better transitions from target to target. Give up a tad on long range accuracy for better control up close. I've also used Springfield 1911s in 9mm. While I have had 5" models, my favorite is a 4" Champion.
Decided to join the Dan Wesson tribe. Wanted a Pointman or Specialist but could not find one, at a price I could afford. Bought a Guardian. I'm so glad I did. Fantastic accuracy and great hand-ability. Tried a friend's PM later and rejected it as soon as I picked it up. Too much weight and to awkward - for me. Great gun, but not what I was used to.
Drawback on the Guardian is the bobtail eliminates adding a magwell, but I have gotten used to that. Not a fan of the white dot front sight, but they sell a fiber optic replacement. It does NOT come with pipes (DUMB) and it takes a smaller pipe than they first told me, but it is the standard smaller size. While I have replaced Glock sights all the time, this is more complicated and I had my local store install it for me. Good choice. It blazes in the day, like an optic dot.
You did not mention is this is for carry or not. I love the gun and prefer it for competition. For concealed carry, I go back to Glock - a 26.

I think if I were to carry I might use the 19. I recently got to handle the PM9. It is heavy, but felt great. Looking for others to handle to try to get an idea of what I am after.

So, I bought a Pre-CZ PM-9-S for my first DW 1911. Possibly a 2002. When it gets here (next week?), I am going to want to replace the Pachmayr Grips likely with wood or composite. Although DW Logo wood grips would be nice too.
First the ignorant question: How do I determine what grips fit? Do any of the CZ current 1911 factory grips fit this?
Also would like to replace front blade sight with fiber optic sight. Keith @ DW, says no current 1911 offerings will swap out on this model.

Bad news the front sight is a proprietary cut. Dave Severns used to make a fiber optic sight for these but that was long ago and he no longer does any smithing work. Any standard 1911 government grips will work on your PM9. I am not a huge fan of hump for the Ellison sight and they were known for breakage of the pivot roll pin. They are a very soft shooting and accurate gun. Mine is a two digit on the serial number and is dated 2-26-2003. I don't think there were that many of these made and pretty sure they were all made around the same time. Here's mine.

Those are grips I would put back on, if I could find a matched pair. My SER# is 0010X, so a few behind yours
