A memorial service for Maj. Richard D. Winters, who died Jan. 2, has been scheduled for March.
The service will be held Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at the Hershey Theatre, 15 E. Caracas Ave., Hershey.The public is invited to attend the celebration of the life of
Winters, who gained recognition as commander of Easy Company during
World War II.Author Stephen Ambrose turned the story of Easy Company into "Band
of Brothers," which was published in 1992 and later turned into an HBO
miniseries.Col. Cole Kingseed, co-author of Winters' memoirs, will open the
service. He will be followed by four friends of Winters: Bob Hoffman,
Herm Clemens, Bill Jackson and Dick Hoxworth.Winters, who was buried Saturday, was 92.
