Hi All,

About three years ago, I picked up this DW .22 at a gun show.  I've been a DW enthusiast for a long time, but had never seen a matt finish like this on a DW:

I kind of assumed it had been refinished, but I had never actually seen a DW in .22LR, either, so thought it might just have been unique to the .22's.  If it's an aftermarket refinish, they did a beautiful job!  The finish appears nearly flawless, with no trace of buff-out on the rollmarks.

I just came across this 15-2 for sale with a similar Parkerized-looking finish:

So, my question - Were DW revolvers ever offered with a matt finish like this from the factory?  Or have both of these revolvers been refinished after the fact?  It's really just a matter of curiosity, as I got the .22 as a shooter, and I'm not likely to buy the 15-2.

What say the experts?  TIA!

Regards,

Jim

Hmmm... Pic not working for the .22.  Anyway, the finish looks just like on the 15-2!

[ETA] Well, I guess it's working now! smile

Regards,

Jim

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

From the looks of the surface, I'd bet that there was enough surface/finish damage that it was a good choice.  I have a GP100 I'm considering the same treatment for.
