Question,
Did DW drill and tap shrouds at the factory?
I wonder if the drill and tap pattern is the same as the one DW Drilled?
I keep seeing this drilled pattern 2 close together, and 1 further away. That is the way my stainless 44 8 inch shroud is, and I don't know who drilled it. My scope mount on the 744 shroud also has a similar type as the millet mentioned at the top of this thread. Mine may be millet and I don't know it.
Happyness is a Hot DW and a pile of used brass!!! Rich

Most of the drill/tap scope bases for DW's use the existing hole fron the rear sight and instruct you to drill one or two additional holes in the shrouds. I think I have one of those Millets somewhere--I have most of the aftermarket bases.

So, that would mean my 744 8" shroud was drilled by someone not DW. Interesting....

There are some bases that go directly on the shroud also, Burris as well as others mount this way.

B squared use to have a clamp on mount. I have one and the problem was that it is made of aluminum and you need to be careful when cranking the screws. The idea of an aftermarket shroud that is tapped for a mount would be GREAT. i have aftermarket barrels for my High standard .22s for bullseye shooting.
