Agreed. Even 158g max rounds are way short. Mags give a lot of side flamage.

I have several boxes of 357SM each of 158gr and 180gr. original ammo, mostly for nostalgia/ collectors sake.Just to familiarize myself with the ability and handling of the gun under those circumstances I ran a cylinder of 357mag/158s thru a SM one time and then a cylinder of 357SM/158s. Exactly as expected. Then I cleaned the heck out of the gun TWICE because it was so dirty it needed it. The 357sm158s seemed to be as dirty as the others. Because of the additional "open" ground magnums are always going to be dirtier than Maximums.
