My first post ... long time listener first time caller.
I see a lot of posting on GB and other sites about where the revolver was made and appears to be three locations: Palmer, Monson, and Norwich. What is the difference between the three locations? Is it a quality issue or something else? Would love a good explanation.

This brief history of Dan Wesson may help to get you started:

Originally Monson, MA >>> then Palmer, MA >>> then Norwich, NY. Each step involved different ownership and different priorities.
There are stories of differing quality levels associated with different locations, none of which has ever been substantiated here.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

People seem to like to bash Palmer era guns, I personaly have had no issues with any Palmer I own, it may have been management at that time more than anything, some say quality control issues bad timing etc… most problems were fixed with a trip back to the factory. I wouldn't hesitate in buying a Palmer gun any problems have long been fixed.
Just my 2 cents

Good morning
I have to agree with the previous. One person gets a faulty product and within a short time it gets blown out of proportion. It is the application of the product by long term use that defines the quality. If any of the 3 models were generally defective it would have shown up in the Silly Wet statistics. Seldom hear much rant about the S&W or Colt failures... But they seldom place where the real test of a revolvers is. Long range constantly accurate knockdown power will always seperate the great revolvers for me.

Norwich guns are the most pursued by most DW OWNERS
With all due respect, I'm not sure I agree with this opinion. I will say that the Norwich guns (I think) show a much greater range of calibers and models than either Monson or Palmer, although we need to remember that the Large Frame and most of the SuperMag models came out of Monson first, as well as the 22/722. The Norwich guns have the added distinction of including all the 1911's, which adds a great breadth of offerings.
I'm pretty sure that both Lil Dan and Fixed Barrel guns are Palmer only, and most DW aficionados would snap up either one if they found one sitting in the case of their LGS.
I'm not trying to be confrontational, but most pursued may be a function of very limited production of a wide range of models and calibers.
All of this speaks to the heritage of Dan Wesson firearms in whatever model, origination, or style. The heritage of quality and innovation goes beyond the location of manufacture, and speaks to both the intent of the maker and the desire of the owner.

Welcome Green! Also a huge Bob & Tom fan here. I have all three manufacturers examples, they are all good. Monson was the builder during most of handgun silhouettes heyday. MANY of the silhouette guns they made were sent back to the factory to fix quality control issues. After that, they were outstanding. I would guess a lot of the Monson silhouette guns out there have made that factory trip years ago, and now are in great shape when you find them. Thus, one may perceive they were better made.
The Palmer guns were made on the same somewhat worn machinery from Monson, some have quality control issues also, yet some of the best blue finishes I've seen were from Palmer. They also gladly took care of any issues.
The Norwich guns have a much nicer quality of fit and finish than the previous locations, since they are made on new CNC machinery. I am happy with any of the guns Dan Wesson made.

The good news is it sounds like I can't go wrong with any of them, I like to hear (read) that. Thanks for the info, will keep asking questions!
And I definitely understand how one bad experience tends to blow things out of proportion. I definitely see that all of the makes go fairly readily on GB as well as other sites ... except the custom safari ... who would do that to a Dan Wesson????

Except that "safari" gun on GB.
Hey, that one still calls to me. It's just that the $1,000 price tag is somewhere past the rings of Saturn.
Welcome to the forum, Green.
If you eat enough Taco Bell food, diarrhea will "call to you" too
