We had so much fun with the reloading bench thread I thought I would start another thread on ranges. There will be many variations as some of us live in metro areas and are club members and some of us are country boys who shoot up the cow pasture. But I am pretty sure we all shoot somewhere, so show them if you got them. I know most of us have already drooled over IHMSA 80X80's range before. Any way here is mine. Photo taken from the 75 yard mark. 85 or 90 is about all I can get out of her.
Next is my shooting table at 25 yards, the little box keeps the rest, sandbags, paint, targets, and ear muffs close at hand.
Here are some of my targets just to pass the time ringing steel. A rack of rim-fire chickens. The rack of 2 inch squares that reset with the tug of a rope. And of course the well worn gongs and steel critters.
Just my little corner of the world, not much, but sure is fun. The best part is it's only a few hundred feet out my back door. Now lets see some .

Hmm, we need a "Green With Envy" smiley
I grew up in the country but am currently a city dweller. So, I usually go to the American Shooting Centers out on the west side of Houston. They have pistol, rifle, trap/skeet, and sporting clays ranges. The only steel is close range digital type targets for pistol shooting. The rifle ranges are from 50 to 600 yards. They also have, what appears to be, an IDPA range but it has never been open to the general public. I think it might be a law enforcement officer training range.

Very cool to have a range like that in one's back yard LBruce! I must go to a range about 10-minutes away to shoot, but can only shoot paper there. I wish to find a place to shoot steel and water jugs someday. Thanks for sharing your part of the world, very nice

nice topic ibruce this weeks weather looks like it will be sunny and dry I spent the wet days welding up a shooting bench (2 seater covered and high enough so the horney cows can't walk in front of the barrel) I'll take some pictures of the bench and the shooting berm with my steel and trap and maybe the spectators. (_____) I'm at work and don't seem to have any problems posting?

Very cool LB.
I would love to have access to such a place for plinking. Much like the rest of the city dwellers, my options are limited to organized paper shooting.
I envy you guys capable of stepping out back any time you get the urge to shoot. Of course the flip side is that I would go through way more ammo if I could shoot immediately every time I had the urge. Sort of a catch 22.
Very nice.

I really envy you guys who can shoot on your own property. Even if I had a huge piece of land, in the PRoI, Chairman Richie D. or one of his troops would come down on me really hard if I shot on my own land.
We used to have an outdoor range about 15 miles away but the land got too valuable and it was closed down in 03 or 04. Now I have to drive a really long way to get to an outdoor range. So I'm restricted to an indoor range about 6 miles away. It's small, dingy, poorly lighted and costs $17.00/hr. unless you buy the 12 visit ticket which is only $11.50/hr.
When my wife retires, we just may move somewhere else.

That's a really cool range LB, I'd love to have something like that at my place.
However, I am still fairly lucky because I can drive up onto the hill about a mile from my house & shoot at whatever I bring. I'll have to take some more pics next time I go (when it's not a big mud pit), but here's a couple for now, from last summer.

OK, I'll play
Honest to God I couldn't stop myself, please forgive me. Maybe Jody or Charger will Moderate me and delete this.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

This has got to be the most outrageous Topic hijack in DWF history. Sorry, I'm just jealous of you guys that have places to shoot so conveniently.
