My wife has expressed interest in firearms training. She's always enjoyed shooting on the rare occasion we're able to do so. There's a couple at my gun club that offer a two day NRA Pistol / Concealed Carry classes which I think would be good for her. I've actually touched base with them and hope to be able to setup private instruction for her.
So once she's able to get some formal instruction then I'll take her out to look at some different options. Let her actually handle some different models since I don't want to just pick something for her!
Just thought I would share...

That is awesome! I am a firm believer in an armed citizen is a safe citizen. I just had this conversation with my wife a couple of days ago.
Me: Babe what do you want for Christmas?
Her: A Glock 27.
Me: TO THE GUN STORE!
So needless to say we went to my buddies gun store and low and behold he had just taken in a bunch of police trade ins. I was able to pick up one that came with 3 mags for under 350.

My wife appropriated my Beretta FS 92.Then she declared my High Standard Sentinel MK ii her all time favorite. Then she had to have a Walther P22 because of the snow camo. Wanting her to have something a little more substantial, I bought her a High Standard Sentinel MK iv .22 mag. 4" and a Ruger SP 101 in .32 H+R. 3" ba. After we both got Ruger LCP's , she had to have a Glock 42 and had it cerakoted Tiffany Blue with a silver slide. That looked so good she had the LCP done in bronze. It can be VERY good for your gun collecting for your wife to become interested in firearms. My wife is also very fond of stainless Dan Wessons. She says I have enough blue dans and I should buy more stainless. The conceal carry permit can just be the beginning. Be sure to be very supportive of her interest because it can be in your interest too. lol.

My wife began working on getting her CT Permit to Carry a couple years ago. She and our son conspired to set up her NRA class a couple years ago, then everything seemed to lie dormant for a while. She got a little more aggressive about getting her Permit, and finally finished "jumping through the hoops" a couple weeks before the Sandy Hook tragedy, but the politics surrounding that slowed an already slow and onerous process.
She now has a Connecticut Permit to Carry, and will likely never carry a gun, BUT now she cannot be denied her right to do so. If she decides to have a carry pistol, we already fairly well equipped, but I am thinking of getting her an LCP and keeping it in the safe until she decides she needs it.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

After 35 years of marriage and her not even wanting to touch any of my guns, 2 years ago she surprised me with "can you teach me how to shoot?" I first said that I didn't have anything to fit her small hand so it was off to the gun shop, bummer. The LC9 we bought first was to hard for her to cycle so we sold it and bought a Sig 238, she loved it. For Xmas I got her a Kimber Aegis 9mm which she really like to shoot. Of course I couldn't let her be the only one buying new guns so I got a few too. My Dans are to big for her to grip which makes me wonder if a Lil Dan is in my future if I can ever catch one for sale.

Wow! And I thought my wife was kinda into guns, yours almost qualifies as a certified gun nut.
Concealed Carry became legal here last summer, and while we've talked about it, we're not sure we want the State to know as much about us as would be required, so we haven't done it yet.
I'm not sure how often we would actually carry anyway.

Zoomm, my wife started me out shooting. She is a retired Fl. Dept. of Corrections Major and was first in her class at the police academy. An instrutor herself, she used to be able to write her name with bullets. I shoot my Dans single action but she learned to shoot double action and won't cock a trigger. Too slow!

Well, that explains it.
I'm trying to teach myself to shoot double action with some accuracy. Not going as well as I would like.

Keep them shooting and yes a Lil Dan would be perfect for the smaller hands! The LCR has some nasty recoil, where as the Dan is mild due to weight!
Hum... seems like I sold my Lil Dan! I was thinking maybe a small smith or ruger. Not sure if should would like one of LCP variants or not.

My wife doesn't care to much for my semi's, she shoots charter arms lavender lady... yep, it is purplish pink. Handles well and shoots fairly accurate. I can get a 2" group at 25 yds. She has told me about a little .380 she saw at Rural King, but I haven't gone to check them out yet. I'm thinking it may be a Scyy. We looked at the Rugers before and she thought the grip was to short for her hand. She is a woman of 5'9".

Regarding the LCR: Cabelas always has 18-20 of these in the used gun case, a bunch of these sold right out of the gate, people discovered that .357 mag is not for everyone
LCP? I practice with it rarely, but at 25 feet every shot groups into three inches, it can be a little snappy, but it is controllable, and the frame mounted red dot adds a lot of confidence.
